“Snow Hazard” and “Clay Burst” Sets Featuring Chien-Pao ex and Ting-Lu ex Officially Revealed!

Pokemon Japan has officially revealed SV2P Snow Hazard and SV2D Clay Burst — the second main Scarlet & Violet sets — along with 30 new cards!

The sets will feature 71 cards each for a total of 142 cards (before secret rares). They will release on April 14th in Japan. We first discovered trademarks for their names in late November, which was 3.5 months ago.

These sets will feature Chien-Pao and Ting-Lu of Paldea’s “Treasures of Ruin” Legendaries. Along with Chi-Yu and Wo-Chien, these four Dark-type Pokemon were once treasures that became corrupted by negative human emotions. This included wooden tablets (Wo-Chien, Dark/Grass), a sword (Chien-Pao, Dark/Ice), a vessel (Ting-Lu, Dark/Ground), and a set of beads (Chi-Yu, Dark/Fire). Each Pokemon incorporates the treasure into its body. The Pokemon are based on the Four Perils from Chinese mythology, which is why they have Chinese names.

Pokemon did not reveal Wo-Chien ex tonight. Only three of the four Legendaries were revealed. We don’t even know if Wo-Chien ex will be in the set, but it would definitely be odd to exclude it when they’re including the other three.

The set will of course see more Illustration Rares and Special Illustration Rares:

Our June set, Paldea Evolved, should be comprised of the cards from Triplet Beat, Snow Hazard, Clay Burst, and the “Starter Set Pikachu ex & Pawmot.” We’re looking at an English set that will probably feature over 220 cards before secret rares (assuming nothing is cut).

Thanks goes to Bangiras, Justinbasil, and Franco T. for the card translations!

In terms of future Japanese sets…

Pokemon Card 151 is confirmed to release on June 16th. It will feature the first 151 Pokemon, including Kadabra.

More “ex Starter Decks” will release on July 7th featuring eight different Pokemon ex. This includes Decidueye ex, Victini ex, Greninja ex, Miraidon ex, Clefable ex, Koraidon ex, Houndoom ex, and Melmetal ex.

Ruler of the Black Flame will release on July 28th. It will feature a Darkness-type Charizard ex, the first Terastal Pokemon of an unusual type.

Ancient Roar and Future Flash don’t have release dates yet, but should release around August or September. They’re expected to feature Paradox Pokemon.

Shiny Treasure will likely be the annual “High Class Pack Set” that usually releases in November or December. It should feature shiny Pokemon.

Dedene GX is back, how very exciting....
Said no one
At least it doesn't work with Nest Ball or Battle VIP Pass, granted we still have Ultra Ball... I guess we all figured something like this would be around the corner sooner or later with Crobat V rotating.

So it does work with those, but can only be used during the first turn of the game.

Oh my Arceus, Iono is AMAZING. Like Marnie meets N.

Also I thought as much, that new tool is basically Cape of Toughness (but can work on GX's in Expanded, granted they have Fighting Fury Belt there as an option too).
this. This. THIS!!
I freaking love this card. It's literally N+Marnie in a single card.

Speaking of charm of courage, I'm aware Miraidon hasn't been doing great in JP tournaments but I wonder if this will be the card that turns the tides.

Wait, it might not be as bad as I initially thought, you may only be able to use it on your first turn

Chi Yu is perfection, it's so adorable.

Chien Pao seems like a water raichu V, palkia will have fun with that.

Ting lu has a lot of potential, hawlucha and koraidon could make it a decent deck.

Lugia has a paralyzing option now with dudunsparce

Rabsca's "Revival Prayer" is insane, right? ANY Pokémon from your discard pile onto your bench for 1 colorless? Am I reading that right?
