“Ruler of the Black Flame” Trademark Filed for the Pokemon TCG!

A new trademark for Ruler of the Black Flame (黒炎の支配者) has been filed by Pokemon. It’s under the same terms as trademarks used for set names in the past.

We usually discover trademarks four to six months before they go into use, so this should release in the late summer.

The name could be referring to Chi-Yu of the “Treasures of Ruin” Legendaries. It’s a Dark/Fire-type Pokemon.

We previously discovered trademarks for Snow Hazard and Clay Burst, which we speculated were referring to Chien-Pao and Ting-Lu of the same Legendary group. If all of this turns out to be accurate, we would just be missing Wo-Chien (or maybe a snail isn’t popular enough to headline its own set, and it’ll just be thrown into one of these other sets).

January 20th saw the release of the first Gen 9 sets: Scarlet ex and Violet ex.

March 10th will see the release of the first Scarlet & Violet subset named Triplet Beat.

We previously discovered trademarks for Snow Hazard and Clay Burst. They are confirmed to release on April 14th.

Raging Surf should release around May. It could feature either Tatsugiri and Dondozo or Gholdengo.

Pokemon Card 151 is confirmed to release on June 16th. It’s expected to feature the first 151 Pokemon, including Kadabra.

New “ex Starter Decks” will release on July 7th featuring eight different Pokemon ex, such as Clefable ex and Victini ex.

And then we have this Ruler of the Black Flame which could release in July or August.

what the heck are any of those things? they look even less like pokemon than ultra beasts or anything from gen 9 did. no wonder they have to keep bringing back older cards and pokemon back
Well Ting-lu is clearly a Molcajete (Mexican tool to make salsa)

I'd probably like these better if they didnt look so out of place with this generation. -whispers- almost like they where shoehorned in to break into a specific market...

Well they aren't natural pokemon. They are cursed objects given life through the evil enfused within them.

Chinese "Five Phases", or five elements (fire, wood, metal, water, earth)

Chi-Yu : Fire fish (flame body)
Wo-Chien: Wood snail (leaves, vines, wooden slats)
Chein-Pao: Water weasel (ice crystals on body, watery fu-manchu mustache)
Ting-Lu: Earth moose / elk (rock striations in body, rock crushing pestle antlers)
??? : Metal (???)
