3DS Discussion Thread

You serious? It was free once before (probably about 2 years ago). I didn't have a 3DS back then, and my bro downloaded it and then deleted it a week later. That dumbass.
I'm gonna download it as soon as possible!

You serious?
Dead serious. I downloaded it to both my 3DS systems to relive the old glory days with me and my bro driving each other insane.

I got it when it was free a few years ago, seems like a random time to offer it again.

If you downloaded it, you should be able to redownload it by going to "Settings/Other" in the eShop and going through your old downloads.

I wasn't the one to download it. My brother did, on his own 3DS.
Also, I did some research. Apparently, this is a NA promotion. So much for my excitement...

You mean Not Applicable to everyone else? I really wanted to play FS, too :/

Apparently in the Anniversary Edition, after clearing Vaati's Palace, a new area is unlocked called the Realm of Memories. It appears to also have Silver, Gold, and Hero paths, and each one is unlocked when you defeat the respective Vaati's Palace path.

What does it look like?
Well, it looks exactly like A Link to the Past.

How do I know this?
I just played through Vaati's Palace and unlocked it.

Guys, Four Swords is available on the 3DS E-Shop from today (January 30) for the next 4 days (so, until February 2nd).
I just chanced to log in and I saw it there. I figured I should let you all know.

Also, it's free.

Thank you so much for this! Actually I never search in the e-shop.

I remembered I have this game for my old DSi, I can't play it in the DSi because the L and R buttons are broken :(

But I can in the 3DS!

Im from South East Asia and can set my region to NA when I'm in Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Philiphina, Thailand, and Singapore.

Already proved.

:( What?! New content?! If they're trying to make up for the lack of Bank, they're failing! >: (

Pokemon and Nintendo are completely separate entities. They each do their own separate thing. Granted, they are related in that Pokemon is under the umbrella of Nintendo, but they make their decisions independently.

Four Swords has nothing to do with Pokemon Bank, of that I'm sure.

So another Direct today! Lots of stuff in 41 minutes. Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BdQg43n2OaM

BLOCK OF TEXT YAY:

- Little Mac in Smash Bros.! As you people in the Smash Bros. thread already said... Pretty neat trailer for him, right at the beginning of the Direct.

- Mario Golf: World Tour finally launches May 2nd. New trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NklrcLrGNF0

- Kirby: Triple Deluxe is also launching May 2nd! New trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKN4NFYxA2k

- Yoshi's New Island is releasing about a month from now on March 14th. New trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tq16IKMA_c0

- It was announced last year that Nintendo's first free-to-play game was going to have something to do with Steel Diver. We now have details on that game: Steel Diver: Sub Wars. I don't know if you can really call it free-to-play, though--It's basically a normal game (a "contemplative first-person-shooter", as Iwata put it), but there's a free version that restricts you to the first two story missions and two subs--basically a demo, but the neat part is that the full (online?) multiplayer component is playable. Oh and it also released today. I'll update this when I know the price of the full version Just downloaded and checked, it's $10 + tax. Seems pretty cool--the first-person bits were the highlight of Steel Diver from what I know. Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjKYoI3ehxQ

- Rusty's Real Deal Baseball - It's a collection of baseball "minigames" and stuff. In the style of Wii Sports Club, you download a free thing that has demos for all the games, and then you buy the games individually. I believe there are 10 games in total, going for $4 each. The interesting thing is that you're able to haggle with the storekeeper that sells you these games to get actual discounts. Nintendo blurred out the possible discounts in the video, but this actually launched last year in Japan, and from what I know you can at least get 50% off the games. Interesting way to do it, haha. Launches in April on the eShop.

- I don't know when it was announced, but the new Trozei, titled Pokemon Battle Trozei, got a trailer and release date today--March 20th, exclusively on the eShop: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HifNwwr8NoQ

- New trailer-thing for the last Professor Layton: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8D6qmc8vhY

- Some talk about the very recently announced Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. Launches in early 2015, as I think we knew. Link or a Link skin is in it.

- Some stuff about Weapon Shop de Omasse, which was the fourth game in the Guild01 set of games. Finally hitting NA on the 20th, so that's cool.

- Inazuma Eleven finally makes its North American debut, today!

- Some indie developer interviews will be going up in the next few days/weeks. First is with Tyrone Rodriguez about 1001 Spikes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZYlLNrJv7mg

- Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HSxDAyit9ak

- NES Remix 2, already! The lineup is rather solid this time (see below). There seem to be more cross-game bits, like Samus navigating an underground level from Super Mario Bros. (definitely reminded me of Super Mario Crossover!). As an added value and cool bonus, Super Luigi Bros. will be included! It's basically Super Mario Bros., but backwards, and with Luigi and his special jumping abilities. I worry a bit over how it'll play, seeing how it's being done with modern software and not the original NES stuff, but it seems cool. Launches April 25th.

- Games in NES Remix 2: Ice Hockey, Wario's Woods, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, Super Mario Bros. 2, Dr. Mario, Kirby's Adventure, Super Mario Bros. 3, Kid Icarus, Punch-Out!!, Metroid, NES Open Tournament Golf, and Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels. Down from 16 to 12 this time, but it's a much better selection.

- After over a year since the announcement, GBA games are finally hitting the 3DS Virtual Con-oh? Oh it's the Wii U VC? Oh... Well, cool anyway. Japan got a bunch of confirmed games. NA so far has Metroid Fusion, Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga, and Super Mario Advance 3: Yoshi's Island. They're set to start coming out in April.

- Mario Kart 8 trailer! All 7 Koopalings are in as characters! No dearth of selection here, unlike 7 with its no Waluigi business. Launches May 30th. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=631c1fz87I8

- Nice bit of footage for Monolith Soft's X. Launches in 2014 in Japan, no mention for NA. There's no separate video, so here's the link to it in the Direct: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BdQg43n2OaM#t=2093

- Bayonetta 2 trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o09zRJNpmI4

Notes based on NA Direct

What's with all of the very mediocre 3DS titles?
BTW, Rusty's RDBB isn't free at all! You have to pay for all the different kind of training using irl money.

Some of these titles aren't mediocre at all. Many famous franchises are included in this Direct. While I'm not really interested in most of them, I can say that this Direct definitely is worth some salt, even if it's only for announcing MK8's date:p.

I was pretty disappointed with the whole thing. It really grinded my gears that they went from, "Remember the GBA emulator we brought up January of last year? Look forward to it... *pause* later this year," right into, "OH YEAH NES REMIX 2."

It shouldn't have taken them this long to get some old emulators running. Especially when, all things considered, NES Remix is much the same concept, but that takes even more work!

The three retro indie games they showed all looked amazing and I'm getting all three.
