Finally! ‘Generations’ Set Info!! By: Water Pokémon Master Posted 5 years ago to TCG 80 comments Update: M Venusaur-EX and M Charizard-EX have also been revealed! Update #2: Articuno, Vaporeon-EX, and nine Basic Energy also revealed! Pokemon has finally revealed the set description for Generations, and it matches the one I posted two days ago: Celebrate 20 years of Pokémon with the Pokémon TCG: Generations expansion, covering every stage of a Trainer’s journey, from the choice of a first partner Pokémon to the most Elite of Trainer battles. Featuring Pikachu, Snorlax, Ninetales-EX, and Jolteon-EX, plus Mega Charizard-EX, Mega Blastoise-EX, and Mega Venusaur-EX, the Generations expansion is a power to be reckoned with! Train On. The Pokémon TCG: Generations expansion includes: over 110 cards, the second Radiant Collection (a 32-card subset with unique art), and 16 Pokémon-EX (including 4 Mega Evolution Pokémon). So it seems to be as I thought: a “mash up” of excess cards from Japan, including recent deck promos (Ninetales-EX, Vaporeon-EX, Jolteon-EX, etc.), the Pokekyun Collection mini-set (the “second Radiant Collection”), and most likely the Premium Champion set (the Articuno full art reprint from Roaring Skies, the Basic Energy). There may be other surprises, but for now, nothing is indicating that. Venusaur-EX is card #1/83 in Generations, M Venusaur-EX is #2, Charizard-EX is #11, M Charizard-EX is #12, Vaporeon-EX is #24, Articuno is #25, and the Basic Energy are #75 through #83. The second Radiant Collection will have its own set of numbers. Venusaur-EX – Grass – HP180 Basic Pokemon [G][C][C] Frog Hop: 40+ damage. Flip a coin. If heads, this attack does 40 more damage. [G][G][C][C] Poison Impact: 80 damage. Your opponent’s Active Pokemon is now Asleep and Poisoned. When a Pokemon-EX has been Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards. Weakness: Fire (x2) Resistance: none Retreat: 4 M Venusaur-EX – Grass – HP230 Mega Evolution – Evolves from Venusaur-EX When 1 of your Pokemon becomes a Mega Evolution, your turn ends. [G][G][C][C] Bloom Buster: 130 damage. Flip a coin. If heads, this attack does 30 damage to each of your opponent’s Benched Pokemon. (Don’t apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokemon.) When a Pokemon-EX has been Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards. Weakness: Fire (x2) Resistance: none Retreat: 4 Charizard-EX – Fire – HP180 Basic Pokemon [R][C] Flame Cloak: 30 damage. Attach a [R] Energy card from your discard pile to this Pokemon. [R][R][C][C] Burning Breath: 80+ damage. Flip 2 coins. This attack does 40 more damage for each heads. Shuffle your deck afterward. [W][W][C][C] Freezing Wind: 100 damage. Weakness: Metal (x2) Resistance: Fighting (-20) Retreat: 1
So, now, my biggest question- will we still not be able to buy these packs outside of the collection boxes? Because I only need 1 Mew promo, not like 15, and $6 is steep for just one pack.
spirit links are coming now i really think mega mawile is in XY09 for us because this ones megas will prob be 2 mega zards
There better be Spirit Links or I'm gonna go...errrrr. I hope this set release makes the old Mega Venasaur viable.
Also, this set had better not just be gen 1. I'm getting a little sick of all this pandering to gen 1. There's ~570 more Pokémon for them to choose from.
Finally, indeed! Though I kind of hope that the designs will be a bit different or something to make it more special instead of just a conglomeration of random Japanese extras mashed together into an extra set. If not, I guess I'll just stick with the 1 Mew box and maybe a couple others if I like the pins/promos.
I smell spirit links in the air, this time And who knows who will be the 4th Mega in the set! Wow, I'm so excited about this extremely particular expansion!! And yes, Charizard-EX's pose is almost the same as the Base Set Charizard's pose, only 20 years later
I just realized that the 4th mega could be M-Shiny-Gengar-EX which we never got here in NA. Though a 2nd Mega 'Zard is probably more likely. (Or my hopes for M-Lucario-EX and a spirit link for him...)
I want it to be just gen 1, the last two gens are so ugly, I'd be glad to have a set focused on gen 1.
I'll agree with you on gen 5 only. At the least, if they're going to name their set generations they had better have more than just gen 1.
Am I the only one who thinks that the 4th Mega evolution might be a brand new mega? We haven't gotten one for more than a year so it could work.
I think the four megas are gonna be the starters. Mega Venusaur, Mega Charizard-Y, Mega Charizard-X, and Mega Blastoise.
The Charizard artwork is cool but the card is so bad... Where is the over damaging Charizard we all know? (Probably saved for the Mega(s) card)... Also, they also think Venusaur is a frog... I always thought the Venusaur line was frog-like, even had a discussion with a friend about that when I was a kid... The 4th Mega may be the other Mega Charizard, but I was hoping the pokekyun collection had a Mega Altaria... But there's still Mega Mawile unreleased, Mega Audino coming in March in Japan... And yes, spirit links are welcomed for the Kanto megas...
Even if it is just Gen 1 Pokemon, it doesn't really matter. This is the anniversary of Gen 1. It isn't Gen 1 Pandering, it's celebrating. If you want something other than Gen 1, well look no further than the main sets instead of complaining about a pack celebrating the first generation having first generation Pokemon.
It's celebrated "20 years of Pokemon". Gen 1 was only the first three years. This is meant to celebrate ALL of Pokemon, not just Gen 1.
