Talkin' Baseball: The MLB Discussion Thread

Strasburg got snubbed. Hard. Bochy messed up on that one. I'm glad to see Travis Wood (Arkansas native) get in, but he didn't deserve it over Strasburg.

Then, there's the debate over whether Puig should get voted into the All-Star Game for one elite month of production over a player who produced consistently throughout the entirety of the season thus far. Personally, I would take any of the other Final Vote candidates due to what they've done consistently over three months. A lot of talented players can have one outstanding month before falling off the map (look at Justin Upton; everyone's early favorite as MVP in April, but hasn't done much since).

The two fan votes for the All-Star Game have been named;

NL: Freddie Freeman, 1B; Atlanta Braves
AL: Steve Delabar, RP; Toronto Blue Jays

(Just 2 years ago, Steve Delabar was a substitute teacher in Kentucky, recovering from Tommy John surgery, and now he's an All-Star.)

Tim Lincecum pitches a no-no. He had been a pitcher with no control the whole season, then he does this.

One thing to note: it was the most pitches thrown in a no-hitter (148) since Edwin Jackson's no-hitter against the Rays in 2010, which required 149 pitches.

The funny part is he was the losing pitcher on the end of Homer Bailey's no-hitter just eleven days ago.

Irlolny.

dmaster out.

The AL will get home-field advantage in the World Series after shutting out the NL 3-0. Only one year after getting whacked 8-0 by the NL.

Mariano Rivera pitched a 1-2-3 8th Inning and won the All-Star MVP Award; like he pretty much should have.

It was a fitting way for his final All Star Game, not to mention the game itself happened to be in the city where he started it all: New York.

A-Rod is going to be the next 1 that gets suspended from this, there's already conspiracy theories looming about A-Rod's injury.

It's amazing that Braun did not get suspended for more games (only 65, instead of the anticipated 100). Considering this is a lost season for the Brewers, this is hardly steep enough of a punishment for a player who lied repeatedly to the MLB and the faces of their loyal fans.

Furthermore - although this result will not change - it's still a disgrace that Matt Kemp lost out on the 2011 NL MVP award because of Braun's cheating.

I agree 100% Kemp shoulda won the NL MVP.

Mark Buehrle threw a complete game 2-hitter as the Jays snapped their 7-game losing streak, shutting out the 'Stros; 4-0.
