Hey everyone! Just a quick question for my Celadon Mart friends. I want to return to making banners and avatars (I used to do this for another forum a couple years ago), but I can't remember the name of the software I used for this (LOL at my failed memory), because it was deleted off of my old computer. Can anyone give me some ideas on which software is best for this type of use? Thanks everyone!

Gimp is free, and for a beginner Gimp provides some good effects and is easy to manage. Photoshop is another program, but is very expensive. However, Photoshop has much more effects than Gimp and is still easy to manage after a while.

If you can purchase Photoshop, go for it. If you can't, then use Gimp.

I prefer GIMP over Photoshop but that's just me. I still haven't worked out how to do a banner in Photoshop yet ._.

I tried out GIMP for a while, but personally, I like photoshop better. But...I didn't have to pay for it, so that might change a few things...

Photoshop is expensive. However, Ps Elements is only about $100, and is WAYYY better than GIMP. Though GIMP is free, the interface is terrible, and sometimes doing simple things will take you ages. As Gliscor said, if you don't have the money to drop on Ps, go for GIMP. If you have some cash, definitely go for Ps.

Thanks for the advice! I think I'm going to try out GIMP first, and then maybe give PS a try ;P
