I am going to start doing the enter the houses and stuff. Add additional rooms and stuff like for when you touch the door it transfers you to this new room. That or I will just design the first route. If I decide to do that does it REALLY turn from this cold starting town to a fruit filled place? Cause haha I will need to make more tiles. :f

Just a request... Could the first town be more grassy along with route 1? Because in my storyline, the next Town is being taken over by a blizzard, therefore, using your tiles...

Nah... well, I just make names so its up to you. There is no strict order. A snowy place... well maybe colifrost city or town? I dont know how many names the game needs for its cities, but yeah... just do what you can...

What about modifying the plot slightly and having the blizzard effect both the starting town and the next town? Or if not I will just redo the town.

I can have the blizzard effect both towns but that would just mean more work as it would not become all snowy there until after the blizzard.

I just had a great idea! What if Team TerraFrost are trying to turn the (blank) region into a frozen area. Therefore the name: Ice Version, and Terrafrost. And for each town we will have to go to a town and they will cover it in ice. Then you have to go find the pokemon legend (for fire) or eternal light to melt the ice setting the (blank) region free. What do you think?

So in otherwards when the game starts everything is frozen? Except for maybe a couple select regions. Then after they defeat the game, it stops the freezing?

Umm when the game starts everything is fine. Then as you progress through the game towns start freezing. Once they freeze your hometown Tinytree you become outraged and find help from the legendary pokemon (blank). You then stop Team Terrafrost and free the region from Ice.

Hmmm...Biggest problem would be after they complete the event to transfer everything over. Maybe after you stop them a random elder comes to you and says that if you change the place back to normal the Pokemon might get hurt. They already had to adapt to the cold weather and another adaptation would ruin them.

Or... everything is just too frozen solid too fix it. Just have the person say something like this:

(Elder)-"This Ice... it's too thick for us to shovel away. I don't know how we'll ever get rid of it all...."

And maybe that's because they have the other legendary? One representing Ice?

I should be getting Game Maker on the 18th or 19th.( when I get home from vacation) I'll be able to help you then Charizard. I think right now is what we need is spriters. Since usually when Garitter draws one its good enough to be one I think we should start spriting everything we have, and then move on to others, like Punchilla, and such by Full Moon. I will edit this with lists. Its your choice to use them or not. Also, Charizard, I have used other Game Makers but am not familiar with the Coding for Game Maker, you have any tips on how to learn?

To-Do List:

  • Make TinyTree. In Progress

Edit: So I just figured out how I can easier make the character move and what I need to do to have him appear to walk. I need to have a two frame animation. For each direction. For this purpose I will just me using HGSS Trainer sprites since our current Rival Sprites are not all same dimensions, thus resulting in a crappy animation and our character to jump tiles. x.x

I also got to simplify how we operate the sprites/objects in the game and I am adding those into coding. Thank god I am framiliar with the base languages of GML and it reminds me a lot of languages I have programmed in before making it 10x easier on me.

Edit 2: Using this sprite with this sort of animation to give walking effect for now until we get actual sprites that fit the dimensions. (17x25)

Great DEMO! There are so many posts, I can't even keep up. I am right now updating the front post with some things. I would like to thank each and every one of you for helping out with the game. :)

Edit: Ok guys I have updated the front post. If I have missed anything then please let me know. I am going to be working on the map and shall be posting it after I have finished it.

Edit #2: Ok I will be working on the Pokedex as well today and will hopefully finish in about 2 days. I will be typing the description of the Pokemon and everything else and shall be posting it in the front post.

I wasn't going to mess with the view settings till it got approved. I did script it, just seemed like the easier way to do it. Plus I could make the transition easier over to the actual sprites using it. Do you know how to script Darksun? Here is the script I used for movement if your interested. I am probably going to slow it down slightly, and I need to add controls so that the character doesn't move diagonally. Do you by any chance know how I would do that?

Edit: I thought about just adding checks to see if another key is being pressed, and if it is set movement speed to zero. That way they cannot go diagonally.
