Hey man, I had no idea you opened up an art thread!

One thing you need to work on is to be more concise with your detail. Taking Shaymin-S as an example, you should add shadows to the flowers and clouds to give them a bit more structure and depth. You could add additional hills in the background with paler tones to again give off a sense of distance, and see if you can experiment around with grass by adding a couple of tufts here and there.

Looking forward to seeing more stuff, keep it up

I like your style of art. I'm going to probably use the groudon art for my avatar for a long time. Strangely after seeing the CoL packs with Groudon and seeing your Groudon art, he's one of my more favorite pokemon

heyy man just going to give some quick little comments

-Just my opinion but for your little avatars which I assume are made on paint with the self-made backgrounds I'd recommend using actually artwork rather than sprites. Few quick reasons
1. Low quality image
2. Artwork fits the cartoony feel a bit better than sprites do.

-A little bit more detail would be nice. I know it's meant to have a simple feel to it but maybe some more attention to detail would look nice. As said maybe some few strokes for grass patches would be nice and idk how'd you go about doing this on paint but some depth would be great to see


Personally I don't do this gimmicy sort of stuff so my advice may not be the best to aid you but I hope you do take some on board ^.^

I'm not really good with GIMP as far as adding depth. Maybe Gliscor could teach me more about that. I know my artwork isn't as good as Xous's, and it never will be. I'm going to try and do 1-2 avatars a day. Maybe every once in a great while do a banner sized piece of art.

There are ways to make it work, but usually involve "spriting" the background as well, which is troublesome... actually I consider sprite-art pretty troublesome itself... it's a more "technical" than "artistic" process. Still I don't think there's anything wrong with using a sprite here, considering the low-res nature of an avatar. The bigger issue is probably the MS paint BG, which is kind of unnecessary. It's easier to not use a BG than to try and find a suitable BG. That's basically the reason my avatars (and sigs) don't use BGs :p

I like to have some kind of background with the nonshadow type avatars because they just seem too boring to me.

I dunno what you mean by nonshadow...

"Boring" is just a hyperbole most people use to describe something conservative, lol

In theory background-less avatars are the most versatile because their alpha backdrop lets them blend into any forum background.

I didn't get anything up the past couple days because I've been busy plus ended up getting a malware which was not easy to get rid of. Anyway I added a Latios avatar today.

The one thing that I don't like about these is the background on the GIF's. If you could make them transparent, it would be better.

Other than that, keep up the good work!
