Project Attack Name Resource: Records on Many Repeated Attacks in the TCG!

GadgetJax

Traveling Storyteller and Card Faker
When coming up with fake cards, one of the biggest problems that I and many others face is attack naming. Coming up with something original can be difficult, and because of how many different attack names there are within the entirety of the official TCG, it can be hard to keep track of what each attack name is and what it does.

This page is dedicated to organizing any attack names that have been used in the official TCG, including what they do. This should be able to help Fake Card writers to be able to find attack names that suit the effect of the attack in mind. Anyone can help fill this page in by leaving the attacks they've found in a format like this:

Code:
Attack Name: (Attack name goes here)
Function: (List 'damage' for attacks that inflict damage and 'no damage' for attacks that don't inflict damage. Damage counters are NOT considered damage)
Additional notes: (Write what the attack does here)

For easier copy-pasting...

Attack Name:
Function:
Additional notes:

Please don't list any attacks that are often exclusive to a specific Pokémon, such as Mega Lucario-EX's 'Rising Fist' and Heliolisk's 'Parabolic Spark'. I will update the main page here with attacks you guys have listed.

RE: Attack Name Resource (Accepting Help from Everyone!)

Not directly contributing here (sorry!), but wouldn't it be more appropriate to say "effect" or "non-damaging" rather than "gimmick"? Gimmicks generally refer to clever techniques or hidden catches. Damaging attacks can have clever or interesting attacks, and non-damaging attacks can be pretty straightforward.

Besides that, good luck with the thread. I see it being useful in making more standard cards (such as basics in Stage 1/2 lines) seem more like real cards.

RE: Attack Name Resource (Accepting Help from Everyone!)

The Ability help is nice. I could create a second post with Abilities down the line, but I'm not sure if it is the best idea, because of how only a few Pokemon here and there actually share Abilities. I'll consider it down the line, but for now, just attacks.

The wording help is nice, but I don't know if it is neccesary, because even though attacks always share similar functions, they often have wording changes between generations. Here's Base Set Electabuzz:

And his gold reprint:

Notice the re-translation?

Right, not many Pokemon share abilities, but the ones I have given are based of in-game attacks and abilities, meaning a wide variety of Pokemon can easily have the same ability. And you rarely have two of the same ability effect with different names, so this can help prevent those problems...

True, but could we just put in XY Wording? But, yeah, I get what you mean.

I know. I had a Slurpuff card that I was looking at then looked them up on Bulbapedia and only saw Swirlix and Slurpuff had the move.
