Hi everyone! ^-^ For those who dont know me, I really love to share cool astronomical entertainment with everyone! Im a nerd :p I MISSED the super-moon/Eta Aquarius both the showing and posting a thread, I found out about that last minute but it was too cloudy for me. T-T Forgive me... Anyways, If you were one of those people (like me) who missed the super-moon and meteor shower peak, there is still one more totally awesome show this month! TRY NOT TO MISS IT!!!!

What is it?

May 20th-May 21st 2012 If you live in Eastern Asia-Western United States, you get a chance to experience a rare annular partial solar eclipse!! This is when the moon is farthest from the earth and lines up in front of the sun between the earth and the sun without fully covering the star. This makes a cool "ring of fire" effect!

Showing times?

The showing times are found on the first website below on the map, just click on your area and see if you get a showing. The rest of you can always watch it live on the news! :p So far from the looks of it, the eclipse will start in Asia at sunrise and travel east to the western United States, ending in Northwest Texas. In United States if you are off a little west of Mississippi/ Central you will still might get to experience only a partial, however, it might be at or near sunset. I have no idea if its even possible for a solar eclispe to show after sunset 0_0 what a contradiction, lol. While I am on lunch break at work it will be a nice birthday present for me to see it, although with it being slightly after midnight it technically would be the day after.

Happy [early] Birthday! =D I once had a lunar eclipse on my birthday before :p Lucky you, you get a solar eclipse ^-^ So Lucky!

Cool, but seeing as I'm about one state away from the Mississippi river, I probably get a partial solar eclipse. And I saw the super moon. Actually, it was during midnight and I was reading a really long story. Lucky me! :)

You guys in western states are lucky. I don't know if I can even see the eclipse. It will supposedly appear at either 21st or 20th... odd.

(What time is it for you, Shiningmilotic? It's 7:30 here) Yeah, I'll just expect to go blind from staring at the sun lol. Cause that sounds like some stupid thing I'd do, Lol
 
Yesterday, where I live the Sun was setting and it was RED. I'm not sure if it was related to the eclipse, but the view was beautiful.
I couldn't take a snapshot, though. :/
 
Watching right now via SLOOH SpaceCamera! It looks amazing, I just wish I could see for myself....CURSE YOU, WASHINGTON OVERCAST-NESS!!!
EDIT: I just read on NASA's official website that the next eclipse will be November 13 2012, and it's going to be a full solar eclipse this time! /me dies
 
I JUST caught it last minute before sunset! That was my FIRST solar omg Im so happy right now!!!! Glad its over with, now I can finally get some sleep. LOL it looked like Rayquaza took a bite outta the sun :p I watched it live from other places too, im jealous of Cali 0_0

Next time there is anything like this, I will post! ^-^
 
^^^^^^ It is, here in america!? I have to look this up, I thought there was a mid-day partial in 2014 that will reach america. LOL I hope there isnt anymore sunset eclipses, this one almost slipped away from me :mad:

I used these to watch the eclipse yaa'll, these work amaaazzziinnngg. You can find them on ebay for like 1.00 ( thats where I got mine ) I recommended getting some before 2014 ;)
