Ninjask, Shedinja from Mega Symphonia!

Nincada, Ninjask, and Shedinja have been revealed from Mega Symphonia, which releases in Japan on August 1st. Mega Brave and Mega Symphonia will combine to form the majority of the international set Mega Evolution, which releases September 26th.

Weakness: Fire (x2)
Resistance: None

Ninjask - Grass - HP80

When you play this Pokémon from your hand to evolve 1 of your Pokémon, you may search your deck for Shedinja and put it onto your Bench. Shuffle your deck afterward.

Shedinja - Psychic - HP60

If this Pokémon is Knocked Out by damage from an attack from your opponent's Pokémon ex, your opponent can't take any Prize cards for it.

[P] Damage Beat: 20x damage. This attack does 20 damage for each damage counter on your opponent's Active Pokémon.

Weakness: Darkness (x2)
Resistance: Fighting (-30)
Retreat: 0

maybe use lux cape? then it's harder to ko and if they ko it with an ability its only worth 1 prize, and if u use mist energy draga cant hit it with its dmg counters
Tool scraper is coming back so relying on tools like that isn't as reliable going forward

was hoping Ninjask would finally get an ex. hell, this ability on Shedinja would probably be a little cooler if it was a hilariously 100HP ex! at least they brought these guys’ cute gimmick back (IRs for both, inshallah).

So Shedinja is being reverted back to a Stage 1
Is Shedinja supposed to be Basic or Stage 1?? It's like the company that created it doesn't even know either!
Are there any other Pokémon that changed stages in the TCG like this?

BW/XY-era fossil Pokemon had the unique "Restored" stage, and their evolutions were considered Stage 1 (making it possible for a Stage 1 Pokemon to evolve into another Stage 1 Pokemon in Expanded).

There are also Babies. Originally their own stage, they became Basics starting with the EX series, and stopped having any way of evolving from the HS series onward. Additionally, the TCG and video game definitions of Baby Pokemon are different. Togepi, Riolu, and Toxel are unable to breed in the video games, but because they were introduced in the same games as their evolutions, the TCG has always treated them as 100% normal Basics, and their evolutions have always been Stage 1.

The thing that’s weird about Shedinja in the games is that you don’t evolve Nincada into it… you evolve Nincada into Ninjask, and a Shedinja appears in a free slot in your party. Having it be a basic that could only be put into play with Ninjask’s Ability (Like on the traumatizing Vivid Voltage card where a guy literally dies) was more lore-accurate.

Ok, so I think this is one of those situations where I’ll reserve my judgement on these cards until they get play in Japan… but it’s very cool and interesting…
