Nemona, Koraidon, Miraidon, and More Revealed in Latest Scarlet & Violet Trailer

Pokemon today released a new trailer for Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet, which releases on November 18th this year.

Pokemon provided a handful of official screenshots from the games, including an especially adorable pic of Sprigatito.

Below is the official press release for today’s reveals.

BELLEVUE, Wash. — June 1, 2022 — Today, The Pokémon Company International and Nintendo shared that the Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet video games will launch on November 18, 2022, and announced newly discovered Pokémon in an all-new trailer on the official Pokémon YouTube channel.

Digital pre-orders for the games are available starting today on Nintendo eShop.

Cover Art Reveal
The new Legendary Pokémon appearing in these titles, Koraidon and Miraidon, are on each cover of the retail version of the game, and the title logos are embellished with foil stamp-like designs that use these Legendary Pokémon as motifs. The packages of these games have a similar look to the covers of old books and evoke the feeling that a new story lies ahead.

Multiplayer
Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet are the first open-world RPGs in the Pokémon series. Along with series staples, such as trading and battling Pokémon, players will be able to explore the various locations of the region in these games with up to four players.

New Characters and Pokémon

Professor Sada and Professor Turo
For the first time, one of two different professors will appear in the game depending on which version players choose. In Pokémon Scarlet, players will meet Professor Sada, and in Pokémon Violet, players will meet Professor Turo. Each professor is carrying out research into lore passed down in the region.

Nemona
Nemona has a sunny, energetic disposition and is passionate about Pokémon battles. She’s an experienced Pokémon Trainer and serves as a friend and reliable guide for players on their adventures.

On their journey, players will encounter many never-before-seen Pokémon, and among them are the following three, which Nemona uses on her team.

Pawmi
In addition to the electric sacs in its cheeks, Pawmi has electricity-discharging organs on its forepaws. It generates electricity by rubbing its cheeks, then it shocks its opponents by touching them with the pads on its forepaws.

The fur that covers its body is good insulation against the cold and serves the purpose of storing electricity. When it feels uneasy, this cautious Pokémon will begin rubbing its cheeks, preparing itself to discharge an electric shock.

  • Category: Mouse Pokémon
  • Type: Electric
  • Height: 1′
  • Weight: 5.5 lbs.
  • Ability: Static / Natural Cure

Lechonk
Lechonk uses its sense of smell to find and eat only the most fragrant wild grasses and the richest Berries. As a result of its dining habits, it has come to radiate an aroma resembling herbs that Bug-type Pokémon dislike. If attacked by an opponent and startled, it will charge forward in a panic.

It may appear fat at first glance, but in reality, the Pokémon’s body is mostly muscle built by constantly walking around in search of food.

  • Category: Hog Pokémon
  • Type: Normal
  • Height: 1’8″
  • Weight: 22.5 lbs.
  • Ability: Aroma Veil / Gluttony

Smoliv
The oil that comes out of its head has a very strong bitter taste, and it is not suitable for consumption.
When startled or attacked, Smoliv will shoot this oil out, slowing its opponent down. It will then seize that moment to run away.

In the fruit on its head, Smoliv stores oil made from nutrients it gathers through photosynthesis. As a result, it can go for a week without eating or drinking. It prefers dry and sunny climates, and it seems to spend its days sunbathing.

  • Category: Olive Pokémon
  • Type: Grass/Normal
  • Height: 1′
  • Weight: 14.3 lbs.
  • Ability: Early Bird

New Details about First Partner Pokémon
New insights on Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly—the three Pokémon from which players will choose their first partner Pokémon—have been revealed.

Sprigatito
Capricious and attention seeking, it may sulk if it sees its Trainer giving attention to a Pokémon other than itself.

When Sprigatito kneads and rubs with its forepaws, a sweet aroma is released that can mesmerize those around it. This aroma has therapeutic qualities and makes opponents lose their will to battle. The composition of its fluffy fur is similar to plants, letting it create energy by absorbing sunlight. It adds moisture to its fur by grooming itself, which aids its ability to photosynthesize.

  • Category: Grass Cat Pokémon
  • Type: Grass
  • Height: 1’4″
  • Weight: 9 lbs.
  • Ability: Overgrow

Fuecoco
Fuecoco is laid-back and does things at its own pace. It loves to eat, and it will sprint toward any food it finds with a glint in its eye.

External heat is absorbed by the square scales on Fuecoco’s stomach and back, then converted into fire energy. These scales are always warm, and at times they can also grow very hot. Flickering atop Fuecoco’s head is fire energy that is leaking out from inside the Pokémon’s body. When Fuecoco gets excited, its head spouts more flames.

  • Category: Fire Croc Pokémon
  • Type: Fire
  • Height: 1’4″
  • Weight: 21.6 lbs.
  • Ability: Blaze

Quaxly
This serious-mannered Pokémon will follow in its Trainer’s wake. Quaxly is tidy, and it especially dislikes getting its head dirty.

Its body is always glossy because the gel secreted by its feathers repels water and grime. The coif on its head is slicked back using a rich, moist cream, and it becomes unkempt when dry. It has strong legs and can swim without difficulty even in places with strong currents. In battle, it kicks its opponents swiftly and repeatedly.

  • Category: Duckling Pokémon
  • Type: Water
  • Height: 1’8″
  • Weight: 13.4 lbs.
  • Ability: Torrent

There's nothing to comment about the gameplay, since none was shown, so the only question is - where is the art direction? The graphics already look extremely dated and now the characters look like generic mobile game models. I really wonder how they'll put them next to Ash in the anime.

Kind of wishing Miraidon would be a new type of pokemon called like tech or something but sadly, I think he will just be a steel type. My guess is Koraidon will be fire dragon type, and Miraidon will be a steel electric type.

M going for scarlet, I love that dragon (hope it is dragon type and still better than zacian)

There's a great comment on the trailer pointing out a past vs future theme for these games. Sada seems to refer to "pasada" which is the female conjugation of the Spanish word for past, and Turo seems to refer to "futuro," the male conjugation of future. It's seen in the designs for the professors and legendaries too.

Edit: A friend mentioned that it's in the names of KORAIdon and MIRAIdon too. Korai referring to ancient/time-honored in Japanese, and mirai meaning future. (I didn't know korai before, but I'm unsure how I missed mirai. lol)

I just wish Nemora was the base model for the female playable character.

Its that supposed to be the region Pikachu? Cause looks like the uglyest Pikachu I have ever seen, Togedemaru looks weird back then but dindt think it was as ugly as this one

I really wish they would called the games Past and Future, would be more interesting than Scarlet and Violet

The game looks so promising, way better than Sword and Shield and Legends!
Every Pokémon has new sprites besides the XY ones.
Also the legendary are so cool seriously.Never seen better legendaries since Ultra Necrozma.

I don't know why both the professors are hot but I am here for it. Can't wait to learn their stories, hopefully they're not just palette swaps of each other.

Version exclusive professors?? That's a first.
I'm surprised they didn't reveal the evil "Team Rocket" of this gen.

Two of the early route Pokemon are named after Twitter memes. What a time to be alive.
What is a Twitter meem??

Ok guys I have this theory that each legendaries might have a different theme, like Ho-Oh and Lugia.
Because both the professors and the protagonists change depending on the versions, why not the legendary music? Also Koraidon and Miraidon give different vibes to each other, imagine a solemn Ancient Chinese song for Scarlet and technologic song for the purple one.

Yes! I love olives! Olive Pokemon FTW!
The lack of voices in the trailer just makes the game seem cheap though.

Thoughts:
-somewhat indifferent on the new mons. Lechonk is the best name ever given to a Pokémon though
-the legendaries… I’m kind of into. I like the design of the Scarlet legendary more, but I love the colour scheme of the Violet one
-with the two professors I’m hoping that’s an indicator that there are gonna be substantial differences between the two games
-I think I’m fully buying the whole past/future rumours that have been circulating.
-I really like the boxart for the games
On the website it mentions that the region is fully explorable and not in an order dictated by the story. Does this mean that gyms can be done in any order?

Safe to guess that, based on rumored typings and their color schemes, the mascots' Dragon energies in the TCG will be Fighting+Fire and Electric+Psychic.

I hope Smoliv evolves into something interesting and the Normal typing wasn't just slapped on it for no reason. It's pretty indistinguishable from all the other "walking bulb" Grass-types but its face is pretty cute.

I like Koraidon and Miraidon, but they look more like characters you'd find on deviantArt than Pokemon. Still cool though.

There definitely seems to be a traditional vs. futuristic vibe with the professors and legendaries, and I love it!

Kind of wishing Miraidon would be a new type of pokemon called like tech or something but sadly, I think he will just be a steel type. My guess is Koraidon will be fire dragon type, and Miraidon will be a steel electric type.
I agree that Koraidon will be dragon fire, but I'm thinking that Miraidon will actually be steel dragon, and we'll just be getting two dragon types. I have used past pokemon designs to look towards the future of pokemon and their typings! (See what I did there?)
