Kecleon from ‘Jet-Black Spirit’ Revealed!

A new Kecleon has just been revealed from S6K Jet-Black Spirit! The twin S6 sets will release in Japan on April 23rd and will then become part of our Chilling Reign set in June. Thanks goes to Bangiras for the translation!

Kecleon – Colorless – HP90
Basic Pokemon (Rapid Strike)

Ability: Colorful change
This Pokemon is the same type as the Basic Energy attached to it. (If 2 or more types of Basic Energy are attached, it becomes all of those types.)

[C][C][C] Spinning Attack: 90 damage.

Weakness: Fighting (x2)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 2

The artwork shows multiple-colored Kecleon, which may be a reference to the anime episode where Kecleon debuted.

Why basic energy? So it can't even benefit from Rapid Strike Energy properly. 90 is a good number to hit for weakness, but not for 3 energy.
Awesoooome art though, the blue one's my favourite!

It can (potentially) hit Crobat, Dedenne and other benchsitters for weakness for the KO, but 3 energy is a bit much

You can use RSE? One of those plus the energy for type you want and bam.

Of course it essentially becomes a twin energy, but that's still only 2 energy attachments, if you got energy excelleration you can get this powered up turn one, if I'm not wrong.

You could use Powerful Energy as well to boost it.

Unified minds Uxie paired with this could be a fun meme deck, hitting 360 damage for possibly any type

Sure it can use the energy, but it doesn't become both Water and Fighting type, as RSE isn't a basic energy, which defeats the point in its ability.
Omg I was just thinking abut this. What if you paired Kecleon with your Uxie and AR Jirachi? So in theory you T2 accelerate however many basic energies (presumably the MAIN ones will be psychic (for Urshifu/Mew3), dark (for ShadowRex), fighting (for Eternatus) when this comes out, as well as the ones necessary for Jirachi to attack) and smack everything in the game for weakness.
If it could use Aurora and benefit from it this would be super fun. I hope they release a special Kecleon energy just for this one card and make him ludicrously overpowered.

Good to see Kecleon revealed. That just leaves Single Strike Lycanroc (Midnight) [and Rockruff] left to revealed from that promotional artwork of Single Strike vs Rapid Strike.

How is this bland in any way? I do not understand, this card is like the pure opposite of bland.

Because despite, like other kecleons, having a nice idea behind it, it's completely unplayable and there is no way you should include it in any of your deck.

To make it work you would need:
    - Uxie + Mesprit + Azelf on bench to deal 360 on weakness
    - Having mew too on bench to avoid snipe against Urshifu / Inteleon.
    - Opponent having a weakness and not being immune to it (coating energy, weakness guard, etc..)
    - Having a way to accelerate energies to power it with RS/twin energy and the right basic energy.
    - Having a way to somehow search consistently all the above cards to make the combo work.

Instead you could just play something like spiritomb and have a single attacker doing up to 310 consistently.

Edit: To give you and example of how bad and clunky it is, I think even without specifying "basic" energy it would still not be playable, even with Aurora energy in the format.

In conclusion, do I think it is bad? Yes. Will it be one of the first pokemons of the set I'll try? Of course yes! I'm already building a stupid deck around Exp-Share and turbo patch

I don’t think Uxie mechanic is necessary if you’re using a 1 prize attacker.

Probably Bad because to fit it in a rapid strike deck you would need to play the basic energy. At that point you might as well play that type deck if you really want to hit for weakness.

I know this card may not be the best card, but this is possibly the most I've been excited for a card's mechanics in a long while.

I never thought of this, but if RF used double-type cards, this might be a cool try. Of course, the only problem is energy acceleration in a format where things kill T1.
