I thought they have to hold mega stones to mega evolve, so how will he be choice locked?

While I'm happy we finally got a fire/ Dragon charizard... I'm upset its a physical attacker, now my timid charizard will never be as practical in mega x form. I was getting y anyways, but geeze did they have to make only the x version dragon-type? They couldn't have it be both or ya know...

I'm surprised no one brought up Empoleon or Serperior. I always thought sinnoh's kanto evolved pokemon would have looked better in hoenn ( Electivire, Magmortar, Tangrowth, etc.) The johto ones look fine though ( Ambipom, Yanmega, Mismagius).
