What Gyms/Leaders/Types Would You Like to See in Sun & Moon?

Be it Gen 6.5 or Gen 7, we can all agree that this game will most likely feature Gym's.

So let's discus them.
- What Gym's would you like to see in these new games.
- Would you like to see version exclusive Gyms/ differences.
- 8 / 16 / or more Gym's.
- Any hopes for the Gym leaders, and their pokemon?

I for one am a simple guy. As long as there is a Rock gym i'm happy.
Though i'd rather not have it be the first one again... Also, a Dark Gym would be appreciated.

The obligatory Dark Type gym everyone's been dying for lately. The puzzle could have a few people pulling of borderline cheating tactics, yet they're not 100% underhanded, except for people who hate being randomly surprised out of the blue while trekking through the darkness of the Gym. It should have a good Halloween or metal band motive going on.

I think the new Dark Gym Leader that I speak of should be a male version of Roxie, but is the last Gym Leader of this region and has the right personality traits to justify his position as a Dark Type Gym Leader. He should have a Dark Type Prankster user to shut down certain targets with moves Thunder Wave, Toxic, or Will-O-Wisp, and then utilise an annoying Baton Passer to pass defensive boosts to his strongest, yet somewhat fragile ace Pokémon.

I would also like a breather from Ice and Electric Type Gyms for a while. They're kind of, put it bluntly, overdone at this point. I would welcome another Steel or Poison Type Gym Leader at this point. I'd most certainly love an Electric Type Elite Four member if we haven't got one at this point.

8 Gym Leaders are most certainly a given, but I would welcome 16 Gym Leader battles if we get to return to Kalos to conclude Zygarde, AZ, and Malva's story arcs. Like in Gold/Silver, one or two Gym Leaders should move on. I would like to see Valerie be an Elite Four member of the new region, while her Gym would be managed by her relative that doesn't need to be her son or daughter.

There should be some form of rematch with them, even if it's just going to be another Battle Chateau type battle.

I'd also like to finally see a Dark type gym this generation, it feels like it's time now. Beyond that, there's a couple of gym types that are either rare or haven't been seen in a while like Fire, Ghost, Steel, Poison, and Ground. I don't really care too much about the order except wanting Dark to be mid to late game, and not seeing gyms placed in their usual spots (don't put Rock 1st, Flying or Steel 6th, Ice 7th, Dragon 8th).

Also, I'd like to broaden the topic and discuss the Elite 4 as well. There's a lot of unused Elite 4 types left, namely Normal, Grass, Electric, Rock, Flying, and Fairy. I'd like to see at least 1 or 2 of those appear this generation, maybe Fairy and Flying. Champion can be pretty much anything except Dragon.

@thegrovylekid
How about after going through your first cave, at the exist you'll meet up with the first gym leader.
He'll tell you that he was exploring the cave looking for treasures but sadly didn't find any, he then takes you to his gym and explains all about gym battles.

His team:

Noibat Lv.11

*New Dragon Lv.14 (Komodo dragon)
(Pure-Dragon)

Or a Dunsparce evolution.

I want Gen VII to get rid of Type-based Gyms and E4 altogether. It made sense on the first couple generations to use Type based bosses, since people weren't used to it and most Pokémon only had access to Normal Type moves and STABs.
Nowadays, keeping the Type exclusive bosses is just making it too easy. How about competitive teams for once? I remember when they made B2/W2 N have weather based teams, the most OP strategy on 5th gen. I wish they made it the E4 instead. Of course, since weather inducing Abilities have been nerfed, such a concept can never be fulfilled...
But how about using something equivalent to the Stat Trainers in DPt as the Elite 4? That would be really interesing. For regular Gyms, they could go with a Leader that used only cat Pokémon, other that specializes on serpentine Pokémon and so on. That way Gym Leaders would be able to atleast have some type flexibility.

That's the reason Candice in her Diamond/Pearl incarnation was one of my favourite leaders. In addition to Sneasel, Snover and Abomasnow, she also had a Medicham out of nowhere.

That's most likely because DP had awful typing distributions. Once Platinum arrived and expanded the Sinnoh Dex, they switched her Medicham with Piloswine. The same goes for Volkner's Octillery and Ambipom who got switched for Electivire and Jolteon on Platinum. Flint also had THREE of his non-Fire types switched for Fire types on Platinum.

Yeah GF, time to update the formula.

I would like to see Gyms with a more difficult puzzle, instead of walking a right path and tadaa! Here is the Gymleader...
Also a rematch with a Gymleader would be nice. :)

This would be my list:
1st Fairy [With some cute Fairies...][The first city would be a sort of Circus]
2d Poison [In a city after the Circus with some nature problems]
3th Ground [ Welcome in the Village in the Wild West haha ] it would be nice to see a city like that. ]
4th Grass [ Because after the Village Wild West, we love to see some Forest and FLOWERS ]
5th Fire [ In a modern city with a warm feeling/atmosphere ]
6th Rock [ A cave city that would also be awesome, a road that leads to a cave and in the cave there are some puzzles and ways to catch some Pokemon and after that there is Rock city :D ]
7th Water [ A nice beach with a sort of Water theme parks and on a little island is the Water Gym] sort of Cinnabar Island..
8th Electric [ A HUGE city like lumious but then bigger and a lot of shops with stones, items [the city to prepare for the Pokémon league]

Elite would be Steel, Bug, Fighting and Psychic and the Champion would be a DARK master!

I don't really care much about what types or themes the Gyms follow... but I would really really like it in the Gym Leaders & Elite 4 played more of a role in the plot again. They're always some pretty neatly designed characters and I'd like to see them have more focus in the games.

I agree, i feel like i barely knows the Gym Leaders and Elite Four in XY cause i didn't get a chance to meet them on events outside the gym at all (outside the Battle Chateau of course), barring maybe one or two. I didn't fully comprehend that Malva is part of Team Flare from her cynical remark towards the main character until later. So i also wish for them to be part of the game plot again.

I would like that pokemon used by gym leaders and elite four members have better movepools (it would be great if they had egg moves on top of TM moves). As for the types, dark type gym is obviously long overdue. It would be great if there was a ground type gym that's first to be challenged by the player. The gym leader can have phanpy and a fossil pokemon similar to ankylosaur. There can be a flying type gym that hands out a TM for a special flying-type move similar to Scald (base power 80, has 30% chance to inflict a status condition, confusion in this case). Poison type gym would also be nice. Elite four can include normal, grass and electric type specialists.

It would also be cool to have the Pokémon League in a city with strong trainers around it... like in the anime and after beating them you will meet the Elite 4! [ When you face the Elite 4 the lock will come so you can't go back and heal your Pokémon.

Because in the anime it looks like a huge event with a lot of people... but in the game you have too walk through a cave and there are some '' strong '' trainers...

I liked the BW2 world tournament event, I wish it was more like that. With a audience etc. :D

For the Elite Four, it would be cool if they followed either of the two elemental cycles:

The Godai:
  • Water (Water)
  • Ground (Earth)
  • Fire (Fire)
  • Flying (Wind)
  • Normal (Void) - Champion (anyone wanting to fight a more powerful, more annoying Whitney type champion?)
The Wu Xing:
  • Electric (Metal)
  • Water (Water)
  • Fire (Fire)
  • Grass (Wood)
  • Ground (Earth) - Champion

Just messing around and this would be interesting....

Gyms
1. Ground
2. Fairy
3. Fighting
4. Steel
5. Poison
6. Normal
7. Ghost
8. Dark

Elite Four
1. Grass
2. Fire
3. Water
4. Electric
Champion: mixed

Shouldn't that be Steel, not Electric?

Technically yes, but I put Electric there instead, because in Wu Xing, Metal also represents electricity, as in electric conductivity. In addition, by putting Electric there, a elemental cycle forms in terms of weakness and strength. Steel doesn't do this. Or in a better way, Electric is only there to reflect on the Wu Xing cycle somewhat if you want to go the following:

Electric->Water->Fire->Grass->Ground->Electric

I can also go with the following if that's better sounding:
  • Fire (Fire)
  • Steel (Metal)
  • Ice (Water)
  • Grass (Wood)
  • Ground (Earth)
Yeah, now that I think about it, I like this connection better, and its been a while since we had a ice-type E4 member. Grass would be a new addition in return. That and seeing as Ground is one of the more powerful Types around in general, its perfect for a Champion to use

Fire melts Steel
Steel breaks Ice
Ice freezes Grass
Grass parts Ground
Ground swallows Fire

Fire->Steel->Ice->Grass->Ground->Fire

Repeat the cycle.

It's very likely that they are going to come up with another Fairy gym.

I think the 8 gyms will be the following (in any order):
- Fairy (just because there's only one so far, but hey, we don't have a Dark-type gym yet so...)
- Grass (related to the sun and photosynthesis lol)
- Dark/Psychic (in relation to the moon)
- Water (tropics, aloha~)
- Fire (based on the volcanoes of Hawaii + the Maori deity, Pele, and her sisters that guard them)
- Ground (the mountains of Southern Kalos)
- Electric (the token electric-type gym lol)
- Ghost (it seems fitting with the spooky Hawaiian legends/folklore)

I agree, @Zygarde, that teams should be more balanced and competitive, with the use of a difficulty setting. And not one which you have to randomly trade with another version to get, and where the only difference is opponents are a couple levels higher. I still think that the teams should have a type theme, but that doesn't mean they can't create decent monotype teams, or maybe also give each leader a freebie of another type which seems related to their character somehow.

Obligatory Dark-Type gym shout out.

I would like to see the following types for gyms: Fairy, Steel, Ground, Poison, and Dark. The others are toss ups, I wouldn't mind seeing any others. It would be cool to see a late-game type at the beginning of the game.

For the Elite 4, I think that the Flying-type would be pretty cool due to the sheer amount of possibilities available to be used.
