Okay, so as most of you know, we're working on a TCG version of the Gym Challenges (details can be found in the link in this portal post). However, States are also fast-approaching. Would you guys rather wait until after States to start those, so you can focus on serious testing for States in these next two weeks? As a leader, I'd much rather we do wait since the gyms will be fairly time-consuming for me. Or, would you rather we start them ASAP? Keep in mind that this could also affect the quality of articles posted for the article run, since many people who are gym leaders are also writing articles for the run.

Please vote in the poll above, and feel free to offer a more detailed opinion in this thread.

Just so you know, you posted this twice.

I say before States, since it'll get in great testing against a huge variety of decks

I think the sooner the better. It would also be good testing for states, and there's no harm in doing it earlier.

I don't know about most players, but I like to test in a controlled environment. Playing against random people with random decks is not controlled. Also I'm not even using my States deck for the challenges.

Allow me to speak my opinion, as someone who has no desire to participate in this challenge. (Hey, wait, where are you going? I'm not finished yet...)

I think you said it yourself - the more time people have before States to test decks, the better equipped they will be for States. I think it's best to do that until States is over and done with, i.e. March 24th. You start it sooner, and you run the risk of pressuring players who want to participate both here AND at States...and since we all know that card games are serious business, playing Pokemon TCG irl at States would be more important than doing so here.

I say hold off. There's no harm in pushing it back a couple weeks.

As someone who might challenge one or two gyms, I voted to push it back. I'd rather my opponent be at their most active and playing a deck they know is good in the metagame rather than the opposite.

Just my two cents!

i know i'm going to lose all my games, but still

I would love to get to it right now, but frankly I'm too busy testing with all of my League friends for states. I'm trying to work out every kink in the current match-ups with the best decks right now IRL, to get a feel for the metagame. It'd be fun to get more games in, but if this is going to be an in-depth system I think too much of my time will be spent being occupied with that instead of focusing / going to different state tournaments!

Hold it off imo~
