Alolan Forms, New Pokemon, Island Challenges, and Z-Moves in 'Sun' and 'Moon'!

Why is exeggutors dragon typing so confusing to everyone. it looks like a sauropod now with its long neck and tail, and dinosaurs are almost always dragon type. i think its awesome!

Bring on the Electric / Flying Mega Pidgeot.

There's so many things that I start to question about the Alolan versions and the original versions of their species in terms of breeding.

Does the mother determine the type or is it based on if they're born within the region? I'm expecting it depends on the mother so you can have all the different types available

Can they pass types of attacks they normally wouldn't be able to learn such as the Fire Vulpix inheriting their father's Ice moves? Think about the possibilities...

This could be fun.

All good questions. I've always like the idea of changing Pokemon types. From a Darwinian perspective, these form changes make since. Since the pidgey line are like Chickens and can live anywhere, they wouldn't need to adapt but since no Pokemon birds are adapted to colder climates, I can see a Ice/Flying Pidgeot.

Well, competitive wise, being Grass/Dragon does it no favors. To me, it seems Grass/Fire type would have been a better option for it.

Has anyone noticed this?!

Oh no...Well, it's basically confirmed, then. I'm not fond of this evolution. :(

WOW this is looking great.

I really like that artwork of the island, sea, pokemon and people it's so nice.

I'm happy that it looks like there will be no more mega. It will be replaced by alolan variety of existing pokemon, and I like this concept.

It wouldn't surprise me if Johto starters have Alolan variety since Kanto and Hoenn starters both had mega evolution.

Also Ice type confirmed for TCG from 7th gen onwards? It would be interesting to seehow these Alolan variety will appear in the TCG though, with Alolan variety in the name?

Not sure if this is allowed but somebody posted this in another thread. Everything sounds cool but (if in fact true) point #8 sounds very exciting to me. The fact that pokemon from different regions (games?) could have certain differentiation withing the species is interesting to say the least. Also that little tidbit that Arbok (among others) will have little markings all different depending on the region its coming from sounds like a nice buildup from the gender differences introduced in generation 5 and a very logical one imo.

It could very well be just a fake and it probably is but that doesn't make it less interesting and the fact that we've already seen some changes in the form of alolan pokemon (alolan pidgey lol) makes me think (hope?) this could be true.

its alright, typing-wise, nothing special (although considerably better than grass/psychic honestly..) but seems like people are confused as to where the dragon typing even came from.

edit: slow fire types are almost always bad too, with the exception of heatran. except he has an enviable secondary typing that is actually good and covers his SR weakness, as well as a monstrous BST

Ok, I already mentioned this but I'm seriously getting bummed out over the possibility of gyms not existing in this game. I'm apparently in the minority but I really love the concept of the pokemon gym as a place designed for certain type of pokemon with puzzles, trainers and appropriate TM that you get after defeating the leader. I just get the feeling these challenges won't be as good (that grass type specialist is asking you to collect some ingredients instead of actually battling you). At best, I can hope that gyms are part of the challenge. I get that they are really turning the franchise upside down with this generation but I still find it hard to believe they would give up on gyms and elite four just like that.

Okay thanks for the clarification I have been searching the internet for it with no answers I agree with you that they were only shiny in G/S due to the shiny formula in that game :p the problem is if they die turn out to be shiny I'll only find out after the game releases which means I will have finished the game by then and won't get to have a shiny Mega Mewtwo throughout the game :,(

Well, until Sun and Moon come out, what else is there to do. Pokemon Go? XD

Might as well take up some form of shiny hunting, and if they allow Shiny Import, it'll be worth it!

What I'm seriously worried about,
is we have yet to see a single hint at Mega Pokemon.
Not in battle, not as an Item.

I'm genuinely worried. Gamefreak has removed mechanics between generations before..

Nice to see Exeggutor getting a Mega.... oh, wait What?!

I think Alolan Ninetails was inspired by the movie Frozen.

Can Mega Pokemon get Alolan forms too?? Will Alolan Pokemon be able to Mega evolve? How many times can Krillin get owned? Find out in the next episode of Pokemon Z!

Yeah...I just don't want to start over the games if there is no point :p

I would imagine there would be scenarios where you could breed the Alola forms down. For instance, if you breed Ninetales-A with a Ditto I can't see any reason why you shouldn't get a Vulpix-A. What'd really be interesting is if you breed a Ninetales-A with a regular Ninetales, maybe it takes the mother's form? Then that could open up the possibility to breed down Egg moves from the other form, which I agree would be an appealing prospect.

Game Freak, Thanks for that Flamenco Oricorio!! From Spain with love :p ;)

Look at this...

And I hope that the MO disappear. Pokeride prefer.

Is it just me or does the new form of Exeggutor look like the weird Jedi on the council in The Phantom Menace
latest

I think instead of new mega evolutions, they're just going to make Alolan forms for old Pokémon.

I really rather them keep both. The new regional forms make me more excited to re-visit older gens, but they don't necessarily buff weaker pokemon like megas do.

It's time for... MY EVALUATIONS for this newest update:
  • Alola Forms:
  1. Sandshrew/Sandslash - I like those! The background for the Sandshrew/Sandslash makes me convincing, and it is Ice / Steel, great! But they're vulnerable to Fighting.
  2. Vulpix/Ninetales - I like those adorable forms of those Fox Pokemon. I like also the typing of these Alola Vulpix/Ninetales. They're the best Dragon-Busters! I wonder if A Normal Vulpix needs Fire Stone to evolve Ninetales, how to evolve this one into these "Blue Ninetales"?
  3. Exeggutor - When I look to this one, I can't hold enough to laugh. This is the first time to see a Giraffe-like Tree. Grass/Dragon is an interesting typing for it. It is the second Grass/Dragon after M-Sceptile. One Question, do we expect an Alolan Exeggcute?
I love the concept that these old Pokemon migrate to Alola and change their form. Are the Pokedex no. of these Alola forms will retain or it'll be seperated? Pls!!!
  • New Pokemon:
  1. Mudbray - Yay! A pony so that the horse evo makes sense. I like also the bio of it --- A small but terrible Pokemon.
  2. Formantis/ Lurantis - For Formantis, I love it. The fact that it rarely uses Solarbeam makes a worry to the team. Lurantis is so elegant, I expect to it that it'll use Moonblast. Solar Blade is impressive.
  3. Minior - I like it also. The rock shel serves as a cover against Statuses, and the core makes me.... Like!
  4. Gumshoos - I like it again. It's bio that it's hunting skills opposite to Yungoos makes me impressive. It's facial expression says, "I'm mad, I just want to be alone.".
  5. Oricorio - All styles were pleasing to my eyes. It symbolizes that dances of the world (pom-pom is for cheerleading), especially the Pa'u style that symbolizes that traditional dance of Hawaii (this game really based on Hawaii). Question can we obtain all 4 in one team?
  • Poke Ride
I love the Pokeride! Looks you don't need to own these Pokemon in order to get their service, it is their part of the Alolan culture. Just call them when you need. Because of the Pokeride, I am asking myself and based on the rumors in the internet, are these the ones that will remove HMs?

  • Island Challenge
I Love the concept. It is an another activity to test besides of the Pokemon contest and facing Gym Leaders. I love also their Trial Captains, makes players challenging. We're gonna expect that their Pokemon that they used is as hard as we expect.
  • Totems and Kahunas
Becuase that Totem Guards calls an ally, and that guard is high on defense, attack, and so on. Can we use 2 Pokemon? and what do we get on defeating them? On the Kahunas, I expect that they'll use the Island Guardians like Tapu Koko, which we will expect as Hala's Pokemon, I hope so.
  • Z- Moves
MYSTERY ON THE DIAMOND SOLVED!
This concept was very, very interesting. This Z- move was used once per battle, so I expect that they'll use it on the harder opponents, Legendary Pokemon, and even Gyms, because annoyingly, they'll use Potion sometimes. The Z-moves was come from the diamond that we've seen it long time ago. What I am understand is there is a corresponding Z- Crystal for every type of Z-move. But wait, can we use both Megas and Z-Move in battle, if ever Megas still exist?

What I am expecting in August 12 is ... MORE MEGAS!! I am happy if it happen.
