News Japan's SM4+ Set: 'GX Battle Boost!'

Since its a basic works really nicely in any electric deck and as long as you know what your opponent really needs when you look at their hand, could be devastating for that player early in a game. Welcome to standard aegislash-ex 2.0

Xurkitree is my favorite Ultra Beast design... And this card is quite nifty! No more broken than Aegislash-EX was, and the GX move is great for early disruption tactics.

Of course, prizing a card against your opponent is somewhat consequential if you use it that early: It can allow your opponent to use N to draw seven cards - which can end up letting slower decks accelerate much quicker in this regard.

Xurkitree is UB-Lighting in the English version of Sun/Moon. Lightning is the Japanese version of its codename. It's a 1-letter difference, so I'm not really bothered.

Anyway, this card is pretty much a brick wall against decks that are special energy reliant. The attack isn't winning any awards in terms of damage output, but 2-shotting with some form of disruption is neat. Buzzap Thunder Electrode can fulfill part of its attack cost nicely, while the GX attack is nice for minor trolling. Regarding the art, Xurkitree's head should be glowing a tad more IMO.

Everything about this card is good... Average HP, good weakness, strong ability, attack that has a good effect, and gx move is great if all the pokemon in your deck are an ex or gx, since you force an opponent to KO 4 and choose a key card to prize, whereas nihilego they would have to KO 4 anyway and you don't get to pick.

Great one or two of in every lightning deck.

Man the pokemon company chooses to represent these pokemon in the tcg in such a weird way... Xurkitree in the game is basically a sweeper with almost no supportive potential. This on the other hand could work wonderfully in a disruption type deck IMO. Blocking all damage from special energy pokemon as well as milling and being able to instantly prize lock something in your opponent's hand? This is honestly silly.

Does this GX mean that they have to take 7 prizes?
I was wondering the same thing...wording doesn't say switch with a prize card. On the other hand it also doesn't say add to prizes?

Love the ability especially with number of decks relying on rainbow and double colourless. There are many decks including Gardevoir gx, Metagross gx, most fire variants, golisopod etc. that get around the ability. If anything you will now need to build deck with a little more basic energy...similar to playing non-gx attacker for baby Ninetales.

Imagine playing this with Gumshoos GX or Pokepuff to know when to use the GX attack and hurt the opponent the most.

100 Damage may not be a lot these days but put it this way people.
1. Aegislash EX hit 100 for 3 metal energy
2. You can still put a choice band on this to 2hko GXs.

This is basically a must have alongside Raikou in electric decks.
