Love Ball Revealed from “Crimson Haze!”

Love Ball was just revealed from S5a Crimson Haze! The set will release in Japan on March 22nd. It and April’s Mask of Change will form our Twilight Masquerade set in May. Thanks goes to JustInBasil for the translation!

Item

Search your deck for a Pokemon with the same name as 1 of your opponent’s Pokemon in play, reveal it, and put it into your hand. Then, shuffle your deck.

You may play as many Item cards as you like during your turn.

With Love Ball now coming to the TCG, Moon Ball is the only one of the original Apricorn Poke Balls to not receive a card. With Crimson Haze focusing on Bloodmoon Ursaluna, Moon Ball certainly could fit well in the set, but time will tell if it will be included.

Not a great card - the only utility I can see is if we get a supplementary supporter/stadium that specifically allows you to search/recycle this card or an Enamorus that can augment this card via an attack or an ability.

Even then, I think you're looking around the meme end of a rogue deck.
 
Just for fun, here's my version of Love Ball:

"Search your deck for 2 Pokémon with different names and reveal them (you can't reveal less than 2). Your opponent chooses one of them. Put that Pokemon into your hand and put the other one into your deck. Then, shuffle your deck."
 
It’s been too long since the last new or reprinted ball!! The only balls in the entire G block were the Nest Ball, Ultra Ball, and Pokeball in SV base. Which makes me super disappointed that this is hot garbage. And I was so excited seeing a new ball on the front page too. Lol
 
This would be legitimately good if the meta ever devolved into Zard v Zard since it's just a straight-up better Ultra Ball in those matchups. Otherwise though not great
 
the decks in post rotation format that need more search aren't the decks that get mirror matches every other round eg. zard

MORE SEARCH FOR THE LITTLE GUYS!!!

I sincerely doubt this card is good even in mirror matches, especially in this kind of format. The turns that matter the most in this ridiculously fast format are Turn 1 & 2. You don't want to have this in your hand in these turns. You don't want to play from behind in any case.
 
I was very confused why this was seen as as bad as people were saying but apparently I missed the word opponent's in my first 3 readings. I was very excited about searching kirlias with this.
 
It's like they looked at Friend Ball and went, "use this masterpiece as a template, but make it crappy"
 
It'd be silly and a translation nightmare but Moon Ball being seach your deck for a Pokemon with Moon or Luna or Lunar in its name or attack name or ability name and put it into your hand would be neat, it could grab Clefairy, Cresselia, Ursaluna etc. and they could print more cards around it, probably too much of a hassle though
