Ninetales ex from ‘Pokemon Card 151’!

Ninetales ex was revealed from Pokemon Card 151! As noted before, the set will release in Japan on June 16th. We expect to it release internationally as a special set this fall.

Ninetales ex – Fire – HP260
Stage 1 – Evolves from Vulpix

[R] Heat Wave: 30 damage. Your opponent’s Active Pokémon is now Burned.

[R][C] Mirrored Flames: 80+ damage. If you have the same number of cards in your hand as your opponent, this attack does 140 more damage.

Weakness: Water (x2)
Resistance: None
Retreat: 2

I'll gonna drop all the remaining exs from this set. If you don't know what I am talking about, think this as I am talking nonsense or something. If you were on Twitter these past weeks, you should know what am I talking about.

Ninetales ex - too much effort just to do 220, Whereas Miraidon can just do 230 in one go. 2-3
Golem ex - First, Stage 2. Secondly, the first atk is a "Meteor Mash" type atk, which is not good because it can be easily played around. Not good. 2
Arbok ex - utterly terrible. 150 is just pitiful, 3 D energy is just bad, letting your opponent discard cards from their hand is just worse, especially against Gardevoir whose ability is piling a lot of energy. 2-3
Kangaskhan ex - it's just bad. Absolutely bad. 2

Assuming you have the tools to make this always hit 220 - that's not impressive damage on a Stage 1, at least compared to some of the brokens of the format.
This set is a lot like Evolutions in the sense that it trades power for collectability, but unlike Evolutions I don't see that much nostalgia in it. If this set was a reprint of Team Rocket or Gym Sets in the same vein, it'd be a much bigger hit.

I wish we could get a card like this that is actually good…
Yanmega prime was such a cool and uniqe card and we have never gotten to see anything like it ever sence then. Excluding 2016 worlds senior winner.

Where do you see all the exs? Can you provide me a link? Thanks

I would like those ex if they had less hp so it would announce that we are getting standard meta without powercreep cards, but nah they got so much hp

buffing ninetales ex: mirrored flame does 140 damage and 80 more damage if you have the same amount of PRIZE CARDS as your opponent. this would make it at least somewhat easier to activate the damage boost while still matching the theme of the attack. also swapping the damage so that you don't have a minimum of only 80 damage

Everyone always looks at these new cards in the context of the current meta, rightfully so to some degree, but you have to consider how these weaker cards point to a longer term goal.

A few rotations from now when E and F are gone..I'm predicting these Scarlet and Violet cards will be a lot stronger when the meta is cards G H and I for example. They have to downcycle power to create space to bring stats back up, otherwise it would be continuous power creep and we would have 450hp 2 prizers hitting for 360.

We do have Heat Boost Rapidash, Copycat/Judge, Magma Basin, baby retreat-lowering Ninetales, and Bibarel/Revaroom/Kirlia, and Path to the Peak, so it could turn out okay? Damage is low, but it’s okay enough to set up with careful play and good deck building—T2 Mirrored Flames KO’s many Pokémon V. Alternatively, the new baby Wigglytuff gives a free colorless attachment—and this one hits harder than Wiggly ex

New worst ex?
Up to this point I’d say Cyclizar is worse, but this ain’t much to bother with in the current game.

It doesn’t trade well compared to other stage 1 exs even. Lost Zone stage 1 ex decks are not that good competitively, but all beat this Ninetales by default for reliability, and some for clearly better damage. If any of those types get moderate energy acceleration, like Copperajah getting decent metal accel instead of lost zone engine, they will beat out Ninetales even after all of SwSh rotates.

On the front of Fire Pokémon, Entei V and Radiant Charizard both outdo it too.

And agree with Rhyperior, it’s either Arbok or Khanga down the road.
