From what it sounds like you'll get them not long after you start the game. Basically it seems that where the demo takes place instead of mewtwo you'll get a starter.

Look carefully at MegaAbsol before getting to that conclusion.

Well the main goal is to take all the sprites of only the issue pokermon and ditto-ize them...

That's kind of the idea, only with the sprites instead.
