Pokemon Your real world experience of Pokemon with friends and family

I used to be undercover to my friends, but then a front page newpaper story about me getting 4th in Regionals gave me away.

Most of my friends are aware that I'm a Pokemon nerd, and I kind of revel in it. I even have a huge poster of the original 151 hanging in my room, and TCG cards and tins littered here and there. Granted, I socialise primarily with fellow geeks, and I totally empathise with the people in high school who really want to keep their interest hidden.

Thankfully, in my early 20s, I'm of the age where it's again becoming "cool" to play the older games as a form of nostalgia. I have a friend who is a Japanese major so he spent most of last year in Japan -- and with it, came Black and White. In fact, a few of my friends and I played it pretty extensively when the games were released stateside last year.

While I'm certainly not shouting from the rooftops how involved in the fandom I am, it's not something I've ever necessarily felt the need to hide either. In fact, when past girlfriends have found out, most of them reminisce about how they payed it when they were younger too.

I go to a two-year school, so basically everyone grew up with and loves Pokemon. my family members are fond of as well - some of it my favorite moments have been hacking up a couple dozen Pokemon on Pokesav and playing Battle Revolution with my sisters.

I'm pretty alone with this. My "friends" know that I like Pokémon but there's no one close to me that also likes it.

I have a really good friend who I play pokemon with but that is it. My parents are cool and they take me to league and tournaments but they don't play.

Saying you played Red/Blue is pretty chill with girls, but when you start detailing the advantages of rain over sand in the BW metagame...
Think about your choices, questioneer.
Think about your choices.

I was playing Pokemon in middle school, and when I was there, almost everybody played Pokemon after hearing about my tournaments and such. It was one popular game at my school until I left. Once I left, nobody there has ever played Pokemon again, and even if someone did, there isn't anybody that played competitively anymore.

Now I've stopped for my dream to become an Olympic athlete, and the people I know that have played has moved on with their own lives as well. Even though I don't play anymore, those were some really good times.

Many of my friends play pokemon competitively and trade with me (EonEye99, Victiniman, Mokoko) and they go to my school. :D
