Wii U is Causing Slow Internet Speed

So whenever I'm at home and my Wii U is connected to the internet, it causes it to be VERY slow.
I don't know why it does this, as I move it around quite a bit and no-where else has this problem. It also may have to do with the provider, but I don't know why it's causing issues.

The provider is BT (not sure what the American equiv is), but it doesn't cause any issues with any other consoles, BUT my Wii U.

Internet Speed with Wii U on:

With Wii U off:

Around 8Mbps minimum. (I will get an image as soon as the Wii U is done)

Does anyone else have this issue at all? I really want it fixed!

The more devices you have online, the slower your speed will be because it has to be shared between all devices. Disconnect things that don't need to be hooked up to the internet when you aren't using them.

But even if I turn off the Wii U and switch to the DS, it doesn't have the same problem. I've even made sure ALL devices which can use the internet have been turned off BUT the Wii U and it still causes the same problems. It's definitely the Wii U.

I'd think that the Wii U might just be doing an excessive amount of background internet accessing when it's on. In the Wii U menu, even, your TV will access the internet to display Miiverse posts from popular games, which is consuming enough, especially when a lot of those posts have pictures in them. I wouldn't be surprised if the console also collects data from the Nintendo e-Shop and the actual internet and all those other internet-using channels too.
To go further: do you connect the WU to the internet when you bring it anywhere else, or is it only online at home? If so, then it is most likely what I just said. Otherwise it could be about the internet speed that your provider gives you; maybe the plan goes extra slow when lots of internet is used?

I hope that answers your question.
