This is a project of mine. Basically, it's a custom set of cards (spoilers; that's all I need) which will be used in Redshark to create a new, balanced metagame. Some existing cards will be reprinted, but most will be original. I want EVERYTHING to have a niche; there will be no line between archetypes and rouge decks. The list contains ONLY what's been finished, and in order of production, not alphabetical order or rarity.

1: Starmie LV.X
2: Starmie LV.41
3: Staryu LV.11
4. Natu LV.14
5. Xatu LV.31

Starmie Lv. X reminds me of the original Omanyte's "Clairvoyance" Poké-Power.

I think the designers WANT all the cards to be balanced and fill their own niches and that the lack of balance currently is accidental. There's no such thing as total balance, and the problem is that even the slightest edge of one card over another could go right to town among the competitive players.

While you're at it, think you can make a Drifblim Lv. X?

I doubt that. What niche does THIS fill?

I'm sure someone will. It has attributes that lend themselves to a unique card.

I remember in the early days of the TCG, when I played the Game Boy Color game, the non-Buzzap Electrode had a lot of use. Since mono-color decks were really common then, Electrode could slowly and surely wear away at the bench, eventually KOing Basic Pokémon who spent too long on the Bench without evolving. I presume this Manectric is supposed to serve a similar purpose, especially if the Defending Pokémon has 70 or fewer HP.

In fact, now that you've shown me this, I feel like putting it in a deck. If something isn't useful at first, I'll MAKE it useful. That's how I work. I do that with the Pokémon video games and I do that with the TCG.

Well, they were designed for doubles from the beginning, I'll bet. Double battles were invented in Ruby/Sapphire, and it'd be natural that Pokémon would be designed just for that purpose.

That doesn't stop a few Japanese players from using Plusle or Minun effectively in single battles over PBR, however. They're very cute.

But totally outclassed by, say, Raikou. Hell, they're even outclassed by RaiCHU- Nasty Plot is on both, and Raichu has a better movepool and all-around better stats.

Natu LV.14
Basic Pokemon
Psychic, 40 HP

( ) Peck 10

Poke-Power: Reincarnation: Once during your turn, if Xatu is your Active Pokemon, you may Knock Out Xatu. If you do, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards. Then, search your deck for 4 Pokemon cards. Put them in a pile next to your Deck. Play a Basic Pokemon card from this pile as the new Active Pokemon. Then, choose a Stage 1 Pokemon card, if any, that evolves from this Pokemon, and play it on top of that Pokemon. (This counts as evolving that Pokemon) Next, choose a Stage 2 Pokemon card, if any, that evolves from that Pokemon, and play it on top of that Pokemon. (This counts as evolving that Pokemon) When you are done, you may choose a Level Up card and play it on top of that Pokemon. Discard the remaining cards.

Ooh, very cool. I'll stick those in the list.

Also... yes, I was worried Reincarnation might be overpowered. I'm going to go modify it.

Anyway, here's how the new Parallel Form mechanic works for Giratina and possibly some other Pokemon:

1: You play Another Forme

2: You play the new Dimensional Tear Stadium

3: You can transform (basically, an evolution that only works when Dimensional Tear is in play, and is removed from the Pokemon when Dimensional Tear leaves play)

Possession:

If the Defending Pokemon would be Knocked Out by this attack, it is not Knocked Out. Instead, place a Possess counter on that Pokemon. Your active Pokemon can use the attacks of that Pokemon, provided it had enough Energy to use the attacks when it was Possessed. When your Active Pokemon attacks with one of that Pokemon's moves, discard an Energy card attached to your Active Pokemon. When your Active Pokemon no longer has any Energy cards attached, remove the Possess counter. That Pokemon is now Knocked Out.

While 1 of your opponent's Pokemon is Possessed, your Active Pokemon may not have more Energy cards attached, use its own attacks, or Retreat.

Whoa, you guys are really going to town with this. I suppose it's all finished now.

Nevertheless, Plusle and Minun are cute, and I think that's the main reason why they're in so many Japanese players' teams. The only Electric Pokémon I can think of that shows up in more of them that I've seen on YouTube is Electrode. The Japanese mentality seems to be a lot less competitive; they choose the Pokémon they want to put on a team, then figure out how to make them useful from there. Winning or losing is not a big concern.

PokéBeach seems to lean towards the competitive side overall, but I like how you guys want there to be no "deck to beat" or anything like that. Are you going to use Redshark to test these out and make sure they're balanced? The last thing that should happen to these theoretical cards is that one or two of them turn out to be overpowered and cause everyone to use them.

Also, need me to illustrate any of them? (Or does Redshark not use illustrations?)

Wait...I thought the idea of Plusle and Minun was that they're supposed to help each other. Shouldn't it be more appropriate that Plusle's Poké-Body activates when Minun Lv. X is on the bench and Minun's with Plusle Lv. X?

Mmm, no illustrations. That's a shame, as I was looking forward to that. The illustrations are half the reason I even play the TCG, or maybe 75%.

They do help each other, they just need their LV.X forms to do it. They way I saw it was they needed the strength of their leveled-up forms in order to bestow their great strength upon their partner... but I see what you mean, though.

And because I can't post in this topic without submitting something, here's some more:

Scyther LV.18 - G - HP60

G - Agility - 10
Flip a coin. If heads, prevent all effects of attacks, including damage, done to Scyther during your opponent's next turn.

GGC - Bug Buzz - 40

WK: R+20 / RS: F-30 / RC: None

********

Scizor LV.41 - M - HP80

Poké-Body: Technician
As long as Scizor has fewer Energy cards attached to it than the Defending Pokémon, Scizor's attacks do 20 more damage to the Defending Pokémon (before applying Weakness and Resistance).

MC - Iron Head - 30
Flip a coin. If heads, the Defending Pokémon is now Paralyzed.

CCC - Safeguard Slash - 50
Flip a coin. If heads, prevent all effects of an attack, including damage, done to Scizor during your opponent's next turn.

WK: R+40 / RS: G-40 / RC: CC

********

Scizor LV.X - M - HP120

G - U-turn - 30
Switch Scizor with 1 of your Benched Pokémon.

MMMC - Flash Cannon - 70
During your next turn, Scizor's Flash Cannon attack's base damage is 120.

WK: R+50 / RC: G-40 / RC: CCC
