So I was browsing the list of events on Pokemon.com to figure out how much Championship points I could earn, when I came across this:
Why in the world would 9th through 12th place get better prizes then 13th through 16th? If you're unaware, or suck at math, after the swiss rounds, the Top raking players go into Top Cut. The amount of players in Top Cut is determined by how many players played in the swiss rounds, and each time they increase the size of Top Cut, they double the previous number. So 9th place through 16th place all won the same amount of best 2-out-of-3 Top Cut matches to get to there raking.
This just seems dumb to me, as it makes resistance an even bigger factor to getting a higher rank. So even if you went X-1, and are guaranteed Top Cut, you can still be worse off then other X-1's that lost in Top 16 due to nearly uncontrollable resistance. Even if 12th place lost there 1st round, and you lost your 4th, you could still get worse prizes then them. The odd thing is, is that this is the only number that does this. Top 24 doesn't get better prizes then Top 32, so why should Top 12 be better off then Top 16?
What are your thoughts on this? Would you be mad about getting 10 less points then a player who did just as well as you in Top Cut? Or is this all old news?
