Hey guys, I'm just getting back into the competitive aspect of the TCG. I was wondering, what special rules are there regarding the first turn? Can you attach an energy? Can you attack? Can you draw?

I understand you can't use a Rare Candy (I think), but I'm completely clueless about everything else.

With the new Black and White rules you can do more during the first turn. Like always, you can attach one energy per turn and draw a card at the beginning of your turn. Attacking is allowed if you have the energy necessary to pay for that attack. After you do so your turn ends. Now though you can play trainers, supporters, and stadiums on the first turn of the game. That's one of the big changes with B&W rules

Rare candy has changed. The errata for rare candy is now: You can no longer play “Rare Candy” on your first turn. Moreover, you can’t Evolve a Basic Pokemon that you just played down during your turn into a Stage 1 Evolved Pokemon. The purpose of the card is now to Evolve a Basic Pokemon that was played during a previous turn into a Stage 2 Evolved Pokemon. Use this new effect for all Rare Candy cards from the LEGEND series and earlier.

No player may evolve on their first turn, meaning if you go second you still can't because it's your first turn.
