Ruling "pokemon reference"

when a card states "pokemon", does that refer just to the highest evolution pokemon, or the whole pokemon evolution line.

example would be "if the pokemon this card is attached to is knocked out, put that pokemon back in your hand (discard all cards attached to the pokemon)

i know that japanese cards state "discard all cards that are not pokemon cards"

The way I've been ruling it is that all Pokemon go back to the hand with Rescue Energy. If another Professor feels differently, post your thoughts.~Mark

I agree. Other cards with effects targeting 'a Pokemon' - such as Poke-Turn, Super Scoop Up, etc. - grab the highest evolution and/or LV. X Pokemon card and all Pokemon cards beneath it (unless otherwise specified). I don't believe Rescue Energy targeting would work any differently.

All stages of evolution (or LV.X or whatever) that are on the Pokemon are treated as being all one Pokemon. For example, when playing a Poke Turn, you do not pick up 2 Luxray GLs, you pick up 1. It is all part of the same Pokemon.
That is why Rescue Energy picks up all stages.
