I don't know if there is a thread about this already but I am interested in knowing what people think about Pidgeot and what potential combo's it has.
So the real gem of this card is it's attack is it's first attack headwind which basically makes the defending pokemons attacks {C}{C} more which I personally think is brilliant, considering the amount of low energy decks this rogue card has tonnes of potential, Gyarados would need to use two energies to attack, the only way he could do that is by burning warp and rescue energies, Donphan would need 3 energies for a 60 power attack damaging his bench and Garchomp C LV X would need two DCE to attack.
Being Colorless it can hit Garchomp for it's weakness but it is weak to the LUX part of the Luxchomp duo with lightning weakness but fighting weakness really does make this card a brilliant counter to fighting type decks/if not a stalling tactic
But then comes the fatal flaw which comes to most rogue cards which is in the wording of the attack. Only hitting the defending pokemon means any kind of switch nullifies the effect, and since the attack hits for a measly 20 damage it is almost a waisted turn. And being a stage two it is somewhat slow to set up.
So how can this side effect be prevented, well Victreebel has a body which increases opponents retreat cost by {C}{C} but that is only when it is active so it doesn't work. Dugtrio from platinum hurts the opponent for retreating as a side effect to the switch but that is a band aid solution.
So what do you guys think, I really want to make pidgeot playble but at the moment I cant see a solution, while it will still work on high retreat cost decks like Regigigas and Donphan, and certainly cause trouble for Gyarados. But the first two are not well established as triple A decks and the latter has better counters. So how can we make Pidgeot possible or is it really not worth the bother, and if not what can patch it up for possible league play.
Thank you for your time!
