Ruling Number of times you can retreat

My question is pretty simple. How many times can you retreat per turn? Once right? My buddy swears that you can retreat more than once, if you have a free retreat. But my idea is that you can retreat only once per turn, unless you unload a bunch of switches in your hand; the idea being the same as the rare candy~it bypasses the 1 retreat/switch per turn. Am I right? Or completely off??

You can only retreat (pay the Pokemon's retreat cost by discarding energy) once per turn. You pay a retreat cost of 0 for a Pokemon with free retreat, but they still abide by this rule. You can use cards like Switch, Warp Energy, Warp Point, etc. to "switch" your Pokemon as often as you are able during your turn.

(Note, in the older days, e.g. Base Set, you could retreat as much as you wanted during your turn, but now it's only once per turn.)
