To start off this I have been trying to break into the Competative Video Gaming for a while, and have slowly been getting better. I play TCG relativly well and kinda wanted to try out the video game. After losing to a person at my League too many times, I have decided that I need help. Please don't tell me I'm bad at this, I already know I need help. Well, here I go!
Mienshao @ Flying Gem
EV: 252 Attack, 252 Speed, 4 HP
Nature: Adamant (+Attack, - Sp. Attack)
Ability: Regenerator
Moves:
Fake Out
Acrobatics
U-Turn
Hi Jump Kick
I like to start with Mienshao, and hopefully I can get a KO or two after using Fake Out for some free damage. Acrobatics w/ Flying Gem can hurt, hopefully killing something. I like the suprise aspect, because most people are probably expecting a Life Orb Mienshao. U-Turn activates Regenerator and Hi Jump Kick is for powerhouse STAB. I have EV for what I think is the most usefull additions for this Pokemons purpose. Adamant adds a little to Mienshao's Attack stat.
Seismitoad @ Ice Gem
EV: 252 HP, 252 Defence, 4 Sp. Attack
Nature: Modest (+ Sp. Attack, -Attack)
Ability: Swift Swim (both abilities are bad, I just figure this one is better than Poison Touch if I face a Rain team, as Poison Touch is useless)
Moves:
Muddy Water
Grass Knot (Trying to put something else here. Grass Knot is for kicks until I find a better move)
Hidden Power (Ice)
Earthquake
I got this idea from the brother of my friend, who was at VGC Nats. I played him, got swept and he said he was thinking about putting Seismitoad in his team. I wanted this guy to be a Special attacker, so I gave him Modest nature. His ability was the best choice out of the two, not that any of his abilities are useful. I don't know what to put in place for Grass Knot, so I put that there for a placeholder until I find something that fits better. Earthquake is powerful regardless of the negative Nature, and I like Muddy Water because of the chance of Accuracy loss.
Hydreigon @ ??? (don't know what to put here)
EV: 252 HP 252 Speed 4 Defence
Nature: Rash (+ Sp. Attack, - Sp. Defence)
Ability: Levitate
Moves:
Crunch
Flamethrower
Dragon Pulse
Protect
Hydreigon is powerful, even though most people say its suck-ish. Rash ups its most usefull stat, but with its high Attack, I though that it wasn't a good idea to lower it, as I may find some use. Levitate is Hydreigon's only Ability, so I don't have a say on that. I made Hydreigon bulky by adding 252 HP, and 252 Speed makes him somewhat viable to move before my opponent. 4 Defence EV I thought was the best place to put the space 4.
Serperior @ Leftovers
EV: 252 Speed 128 Attack 128 Sp. Attack
Nature: Mild (+ Sp. Attack, - Defence)
Ability: Overgrow
Moves:
Leaf Storm
Leaf Blade
Leech Seed
Substitute
Basic SubSeed, only until Dream World Serperior is released. I don't like being stuck with 2+ Leaf Storms and hitting for almost nothing, and Leaf Blade is somewhat strong, so I chose that so I can be somewhat offensive after I hit things hard with Leaf Storm. Leech Seed and Substitute is self-explanitory. 252 Speed EV makes Serperior a speed demon (I think). 128 Attack and 128 Sp. Attack EV goes with the mixed attacker thing. And it saved me time about considering what to do with the exra 4.
Jelicent @ Expert Belt
EV: 252 Defence 252 Sp. Attack 4 HP
Nature: Modest (+ Sp. Attack, - Attack)
Ability: Water Absorb (I love any immunities I can get)
Moves:
Scald
Will-O-Wisp
Recover
Ice Beam
Jellicent is my wall-thingy. 252 Defence makes it into a respectable wall, Physical and Special. I believe that Hyperbeem stated that in his Article about Walls and Sweepers, and I think it works wonders so far. 252 Sp. Attack makes it somewhat offensive so its not a dead weight. 4 HP makes it a little bulkier. Modest is the best nature for this offensive-wise. I like Water Absorb for easier switch-ins. Will-O-Wisp is for messing with Physical attackers. Recover is for instant recovery. Ice Beam is for coverage and goes with Expert Belt, which helps for Gliscor walls.
Haxorus @ ??? (don't know what to put here, either)
EV: 252 Attack 252 Speed 4 HP
Nature: Adamant (+Attack, - Sp. Attack)
Ability: Mold Breaker
Moves:
Dragon Dance
X-Scissor
Dragon Claw
Outrage
I am debating if I should keep this or Hydreigon. This guy is an amazing Physical Sweeper, while Hydreigon stays in longer. I don't know what choose, or if I should keep both. Attack and Speed EV help him sweep, and I like more HP, so 4 there looked great. Dragon Dance is for set up, but he doesn't seem to stay in there to use it. X-Scissor is for coverage, Dragon Claw for STAB. Outrage is a last resort thing, which I use if I know I'm about to die. Adamant is the right choice for his purpose, and I don't know if for this set I should choose Rivalry for possible higher damage if the genders are the same. Either way, I like this guy.
So please help a noob break into this VG. I like playing, but as you can probably tell I'm quite bad and just freelancing everything as I go.
And could somebody tell me how to insert images of Pokemon? I tried to insert them but I couldn't figure out how :/ Thanks for everything in advance!
EDIT: Just to clarify, this is a generic 6 on 6 OU. Feel free to suggest any Pokemon you feel would be helpful. I have mainly 5 Gen Pokemon at the moment, so thats why I only used 5th Gen.
