Ruling moomoo milk and potion

I understand that you can't use the old moomoo milk because of a difference in damage counters, but you can still use potion. What gives? Why is the old moomoo milk illegal because of removal of different damage counters but potion is not?

They do have different names "technically." The old Neo Genesis one is called "Moo-Moo Milk" while the HGSS one is called "Moomoo Milk." So they do have different names which is why you can't use them. Hope this helps.

But you do know in the case of Potion, you do need a current reference, just so you know.

Neo series Moo-Moo Milk is not legal because the name was changed, not because of the effect. Old-school Potions are legal provided you have a current reference.

actually you dont, all old copies of potion have revived an errata so their text matches the bw one

@Spidy: I think you missed what I said. Yes, all Potions do have the new effect because of the new reprint (heal 30 instead of heal 20), but since none of the old Potions say that you heal 30 (and there isn't really an errata, actually), you need a current reference outside the deck.

no, all old potion cards have actually received an errata.

it was in that sheet that came with the black and white theme decks(link below), its also in the compendium

you dont need a reference for an errata, players and judges are expected to know them. pluspower, great ball, and rare candy are the same way
