Ruling I don't quite understand Luxray's PokePower.

I don't understand how the PokePower works because it says to play Luxray from your hand to evolve 1 of your Pokemon. Does that mean Luxio or another Pokemon? The way they worded it confuses me. Here is a link to the card:

Luxray comes into play when envolving

If your opponent have 4 benched pokemon or less...

If yes - you search your opponent hand for a basic pokemon, then bring it to the bench then switch it with your Active Pokemon

If no - nothing.

I am lost now. I don't understand the wording. The first line confuses me. It says " Once During your turn, when you play Luxray from your hand to evolve one of you Pokemon." I don't understand this line because I am not sure if it is for Luxio or another Pokemon but I am leaning twards Luxio but I am just not sure. I don't play the TCG but I always like to read each new card I get. I think this is the first PokePower I have seen that I have gotten stumped on.

It'll almost always be Luxio. Don't worry too much about it. The wording is like that just in case the designers come up with a card that isn't Luxio that can evolve into Luxray. As far as I can remember, there's only one card that can do just that: Brock's Ninetales. Brock's Ninetales can evolve into any evolved Pokémon, though it can't use their Poké-Powers or Poké-Bodies.

Any power that gets triggered upon an evolution will have that phrase, like Omastar or Togekiss.

there are 3 instances in which the wording can work.

1. Evolve LUxio normally into Luxray
2. Evolve Shinx using Rare Candy into Luxray
3. If your playing the mutant format, then any electric stage 1 evolving into Luxray

They worded it that way because mostly of Rare candy.
