Hello I'm new here, and I thought I could just kind of squeeze my way in here with all these good teams. My HG team consists of my favorite pokemon so no real strategy to it.

Scyther level 87
X-scissor
Air Slash
False swipe
Night slash

Salamence level 79
Dragon claw
Crunch
Fly
Draco Meteor

Typhlosion level 73
Swift
blast burn

Flamethrower

Raikou level 70
Shock wave
Discharge
Thunder
Crunch

Electivire level 68
thunder
giga impact
thunderbolt
shock wave

And lastly
Lugia level 79
waterfall
avalanche
hydro pump
aeroblast

Ok thank you for looking at my team, and please tell me what I can do to fix it up! Thanks!

RE: In-game Team Rates

your team has a big weaknes to rock and ground type for ex rhyperior or tyranitar with stone edge and eq can OHKO all of your pokemon
edit so get a water, grass, fight type like poliwath(water and fighting) and have Raikou off the team. you don't need two electric pokemon same with lugia. use one of the starter oak give you squirtle or bulbasaur is the best 4 ur team or u can use the starter steven give u treecko and mudkip is the best 4 ur team.

RE: In-game Team Rates

^Change Metal Claw for Brick Break. It still gains coverage over Ice+Rock, with the addition of Steel and Dark.

RE: In-game Team Rates

Judging by the rest of your team in your signature I can tell that this team has a huge weakness to Fighting.

RE: In-game Team Rates

RE: In-game Team Rates

@BrokenIce, Weavile with Avalanche is a bad idea. Weavile is meant for speed, and its frail. Avalanche is a - priority move. Go with Ice Punch. Don't teach Gengar physical moves like Sucker Punch and Brick Break, it has a low attack stat. Flareon is by far the worst Eeveelution. It has a high attack stat and low Special Attack and its movepool is special based. Almost any fire type is better.

strategy:
it is a sandstorm team. send out the hippo to start the sandstorm, if he get knocked out and the opponent changes the weather, send out ttar to bring the sandstorm out. the other pokemon are just counters to your weaknesses and are to serve as walls.

RE: In-game Team Rates

^You do know that this is an in-game team, right? I don't know anyone who EV trains their in-game team, much less uses a theme.

RE: In-game Team Rates

i thought i mite get yelled at again... so i didnt want 2 take chances

RE: In-game Team Rates

Here's my in game team. I'm trying to make it so it beats ANY type what so ever. Please give me some advice as to what I can do to make my team better. It's not the best and I don't want to have to change my Pokemon. Try to help me as soon as possible.

Typhlosion
Item: Charcoal
Ability: Blaze
Moves:
Rollout
Cut
Focus Punch
Flamethrower

Pidgeot
Item: None
Ability: Keen Eye
Moves:
Fly
Air Slash
Quick Attack
Steel Wing

Snorlax
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Thick Fat
Moves:
Strength
Giga Impact
Toxic
Earthquake

Umbreon
Item: Black Glasses
Ability: Synchronize
Moves:
Dig
Moonlight
Psychic
Dark Pulse

Gyarados
Item: Mystic Water
Ability: Intimidate
Moves:
Surf
Hyper Beam
Blizzard
Dragon Pulse

Ampharos
Item: Quick Claw
Ability: Static
Moves:
Power Gem
Iron Tail
Thunder
Thunderbolt

I don't have a strategy for this team. I need one though. Please help me the best you can.

RE: In-game Team Rates

Gyarados is not a Special Attacker. I'd change Surf to Waterfall, Blizzard to Ice Fang, Dragon Pulse to DD/EQ, and Hyper Beam to Giga Impact.

And Ampharos could use Signal Beam instead of Thunder.

RE: In-game Team Rates

Alot of changes are needed. I'm not going to give you advice on strategies, but I will help you improve your current team.
1. Typhlosion-HJe is a special based attacker so your move-pool needs help. Focus Punch needs to go unless you are adding Substitute, if not then it will fail most of the time. Rollout is a weak move and Typhlosion gains nothing from it. I'd suggest going with Eruption, Focus Blast, Flamethrower/Fire Blast(for when Eruption is no longer powerful)/Cut.
2. Snorlax- Giga Impact may be stron but the turn it takes to recharge is a major set-back. I'd recoment Curse, but it's your choice.
3. Umbreon-I'd go with Payback over Dark Pulse. With his slightly higher attack and his low speed, it's worth it.
4. Gyarados-Do what the guy above me said, except instead of Giga Impact, use Surf for transportation
5. Ampharos- Use Signal Beam over Iron Tail, Ampharos is a special attacker so physical moves are a no-no.
6. Pidgeot is fine

RE: In-game Team Rates

The team I created in Heartgold, it's just for going through and doing whatever. I've already beat the game. Their levels are in the 50s

Nidoking
Rivalry
-Earth Power
-Megahorn
-Poison Jab
-Blizzard

Houndoom
Early Bird
-Flamethrower
-Crunch (I don't have the dark pulse TM TT-TT)
-Fire Fang
-Thunder Fang

Absol
Super Luck
-Sucker Punch
-Slash
-Swords Dance (will become Psycho Cut)
-Night Slash

Slowbro
Oblivious
-Surf
-Psychic
-Fire Blast
-Slack Off

Zangoose
Immunity
-Crush Claw
-X-Scissor
-Close Combat
-False Swipe

Togekiss
Hustle (I didn't notice it didn't have Serene Grace until it was a Togekiss.... oh well, don't tell me to change it)
-Air Slash
-Aura Sphere
-Fire Blast
-Fly (not actually for battle)

It's worked pretty well so far, but I've been kind of worried about a lack of Ice, and to a lesser extent, Electric moves.

RE: In-game Team Rates

Dark Pulse is relatively easy to find; behind the 3 smashable rocks is where you will find it.

You could teach Return to Zangoose instead of Crush Claw.
Absol could have Shadow Claw.

Other than that I see no flaws.

RE: In-game Team Rates

Making a team for a competitive tournament thing at an anime convention I'm going to. The rules are that we can use any pokemon, but only 1 of each pokemon. We can also only use legendaries that are not event-only (limiting them to Giratina, Dialga, Palkia, Groudon, Kyogre, Rayquaza, Ho-Oh, Lugia, Rotom, Mewtwo, Latias, and Latios) and only 2 of them. Only one of each items can be used as well, and no Soul Dew. Here was the team that I had planned.

Giratina-O - Griseous Orb
Adamant
-Shadow Claw
-Outrage
-Earthquake
-Substitute

Garchomp - (undecided item)
Adamant
-Earthquake
-Swords Dance
-Dragon Claw
-Fire Fang

Kyogre - Sea Incense???
Modest
-Water Spout
-Surf
-Ice Beam
-Thunder

Lucario - Expert Belt
Modest (inner focus ability)
-Aura Sphere
-Shadow Ball
-Dragon Pulse
-Psychic

Scizor - Undecided
Careful (swarm ability)
-Swords Dance
-Baton Pass
-Agility
-U-Turn

Rayquaza - Life Orb
Adamant
-Outrage
-Earthquake
-Crunch
-....undecided. Currently Dragon Claw for filler.

Scizor would be my starter. Scout and a Baton Passer for Rayquaza to sweep. Scizor and Giratina are also there as a sort of Wabbuffet counter as well. Kyogre and Garchomp are there just to hit hard. Lucario is my favorite pokemon so I don't want to take him out no matter what, lol.

Any suggestions about moves that I should change would be well accepted, same with items too. I've never made a competitive team before so this is new to me. I also had a Blissey, a Tyranitar, and a Wabbuffet ready too, but I didn't know if any of them would have fit into my team or not. I'm guessing Wabbuffet would be one to consider switching in? I have no problem making major modifications to this team, so any advice is welcomed.

RE: In-game Team Rates

You could put Extremespeed on Rayquaza.

My current SS team:

Magnemite-lv.25
-Flash Cannon (Won in Daily Drawing Corner)
-Charge Beam
-Supersonic
-Thunder Wave

Noctowl-lv.25
-Roost
-Uproar
-Hypnosis (pretty weird since it doesn't go with Uproar)
-Shadow Ball

Sudowoodo-lv.25
-Faint Attack
-Low Kick
-Rock Throw
-Flail

Croconaw-lv.27
@Everstone.... I like Croconaw tons more than Feraligatr.
-Surf
-Ice Fang
-Headbutt
-Bite

I am at the Mahogany Rocket Hideout.
