Deoxys-D Ban

"well voters have spoken a 59.34% uber vote means deo-d gets the boot from OU and into ubers." As quoted from Smogon's AJC

I was pretty excited for the ban of the king of hazards. Lavos Spawn summed up my thoughts with the fact that Deo-D is the most unpredictable hazard setter, with the ability to destroy all of its possible counters with its (quote-on-quote) "cavernous movepool." The hazard setting is also very exploitable and reverts OU into a click-and-relax show for the first few turns. The lack of skill required for Deo-D offense is astounding, and it eliminates what the arguably most important aspect of the game. Stall is also virtually unplayable with this in.

As for what the metagame will look like, I think that HO will go way down in use. Azelf, Latios, and maybe Screens Jirachi (others I forgot too) are the few viable leads for them now. At least now no more average-or-below guys can peak with these cookie-cutter things that are insults to call "teams."

Deoxys-D was one of the most popular Pokémon to use on weatherless offense teams. Without something that can immediately put the pressure on opposing teams that utilize weather, these teams would see a lot less use, and I could see the metagame centralizing even more around Drizzle, Drought, and Sand Steam. (lolhail.) I personally hope the extra centralization is enough to give the boot to these abilities (haters gonna hate) but either way, this does slow down the metagame a bit. No more instantaneous 3 layers of hazards, or 2 layers of spikes and screens.

Doesn't affect me. My Crippling PZed lead twoshots it regardless, and I never see it anyway.

Tbh I always found Azelf to be the most effective HO lead, and I never had any issues facing it because Deo gets shut down by Azelf. Although when I'm playing a non-HO team its effortless hazard setting was annoying, I never saw it as ban worthy... perhaps it's because I usually have Gliscor.

As TPO3 said, it would be nice if this called some attention to auto weather, the bane of all skill and originality in this game :/

oh i forgot, deo beats azelf if it has dark pulse or mirror coat... which is pretty common... so yeah.

The ban hurt me a lot. I was trying to play weatherless teams and Deoxys really gave me an edge. I've used it both as a hazard setter and a screener. And I'll have to admit that its great bulk combined with that huge movepool probably was a bit too much for OU.
Bye, behemoth...

Remember when Deo-D was in UU guys?

Yeah. Those were the fun days.

No but srsly. I never used it because I simply preferred Forretress, and usually hate dedicated leads.

The only real dedicated lead I have is in a rain team, it's an agility-download P-Zed, and it wrecks days, because in those first few turns, everyone just wants their hazards. :3

Eh, I found that with the lack of a consistent spinblocker in this meta Deoxys-D wasn't that hard to manage. Nonetheless, I'm not complaining about the banning.
