A Shadow in the Sand [VGC 2012 Format]

RE: Dark Dust Spirits [VGC 2012 Format]

Thats sweet! But Random Matchup is more accurate bc its vs real people :p (But theres a LOT of cheapskates on there who pull insane things and im sure every other person has max IVs with cheating. Like how an azumarill lived my t-bolt from zapdos SOMEHOW)

Oh and I've got a good team name for you, A Shadow in the Sand. Since the basis is Gengar and the rest is gengars fellow buttkickers.

That's actually a pretty good name for the team if I dare say so myself.

So earlier today I decided to test the VGC team in the Super Doubles on the Subway, leaving Landorus and Metagross behind and taking the rest with me. (Gastrodon had a Sitrus Berry.) I got all the way up to battle #43 when I ran into a quad-legend team - I hadn't seen a single legendary before that. I lost there, but I fought him down to the last 2, one of which would have died from sand damage at turn's end anyway.

Although I'm disappointed to see my streak broken, and so far along, this has proven to me one thing: THIS TEAM WORKS

I know you don't like PO but trust me make your exact same team and go battle on the SkarmBliss server because Battle Subway doesn't prove that the team works against real life people.

This is a fair point! However, that doesn't mean I am totally out of options - there are such things as the WiFi Train and Random Matchup that I can use to gauge my strength, since those go up against real people.

If I do find time within the next 2 weeks (and I definitely want to), then I shall test my team out there.

Edit: Wifi Train is singles only apparently. Dang it.

Wi-Fi train is only single battles, I think. Plus, wi-fi train is AI but with other's built teams.

Ok, well, I'm too lazy to look at all of those comments, so if someone's already said something, then WHATEVER.

Metagross.

Moveset is okay, but a few little tweaks should do it. I used a certain set when I went to the VGC, and it worked somewhat wonders.

First off, why the Natural Gift? That's...pretty weird. Well anyway...

Metagross@Steel Gem
-Bullet Punch
-Zen Headbutt
-Earthquake
-Protect
Nature: Adamant
252 HP/252 Atk/4 Def

Believe it or not, Steel Gem Bullet Punch does MASSIVE damage, almost.. well, kinda almost as much as Meteor Mash. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it does the same amount of damage as an Iron Head, but with priority instead. And remember, priority is a huge part of the game. Zen Headbutt to hit the annoying Hitmontop and such, which counter your team pretty well. Earthquake is for other steel types, or any threatening Fire-types, like Chandelure.

Just letting you know, this Metagross is meant to be a kind of physical wall, and Rotom-W works very nicely with it!

ALSO!

You might want to include DW Cradily on your team. It too has Storm Drain, and even benifits from the Sandstorm, since it's a Rock-type. With Grass type STAB moves, it's one of the most perfect rain-team counters. So maybe ditch that Gastrodon of yours (sorry 'bout that, Gastro) and sub in Rotom-W. I DUNNO, just an idea.

Yeah I know the Regionals are over.. good times there. Hope this information helps during the Nats or Worlds! BAI

lol Regs is over; you're way late to the party. I got 5-3 with this team, so I'm very happy!

There's a reason I picked Agility over Meteor Mash; I'll leave you to figure out why. (By the way you're a little off; Steel Gem Bullet Punch hits for the same damage as Magnet Bomb, since the Gem bonus is x1.5, not x2.)

Cradily, eh? What kind of moveset would it have that makes it better than Gastrodon? Its only group moves are Sludge Wave and Earthquake/Bulldoze, and since none of those are STAB (Muddy Water is, and that accuracy drop is to die for), what makes Cradily better? Grass? That all?
