(1) 'Primal Clash' America's February XY5 Set [9/25]

High hopes for this set, hope there's more than 6 and EXs and 4 FAs, a little disappointed that not all of the EXs are getting FA versions now.

So far nothing that I hadn't already expected. I even figured we'd have two elite trainer boxes for this set. Back to waiting for more specific information on this set and more specifics for Phantom Force sets/promos.

Do you think they are going to make another EX card of both Kyogre and Groudon in this set so that players can use it in tournaments? You can't use the Krogre EX and Groudon EX in tournament right now, the set is too old or am I wrong? I don't go to tournaments by the way.

Or will they just make an exception for these cards to be used in the tournament?

TPCi will almost definitely print another Kyogre and Groudon-EX. They've printed multiple EX's for the same Pokemon before (Tornadus-EX), so it's not like there's no precedent.

I'm really hoping they start a new secret-rare scheme with this set. I don't hat the current one, but it's really boring compared to those of the past.

It's going to be a long while before we see this set, so I won't hype it up too much. Still got Phantom Forces to look forward too!

Its fake. This is Kyogre from BW set and its says its Kyogre EX that evolves from Kyogre EX when its suppose to be Primal Kyogre EX.
Basically someone photoshopped the Primal Groudon Hoenn collection box..

12 Ex inc. the primals and 4 Megas, so thats pretty much Sceptile, Blazekin and Swampert, if it wasn't for the obvious Primal + 2 Megas for the Japaneese version I'd say the MDiancie Promo. This gonna be a good set IMO.

Wow! 150 cards, 12 EX's, and 4 Mega Pokemon? This set is huge! Maybe I should start the hype early....

150 cards.. must be in order to define it something more then just XY set since its not really XY but ORAS set. The same has been done in Boundaries Crossed which had 153 cards.
Im going to buy 2 booster box of this set as buying only one just can't be enough with that amount of cards.

To put this in perspective:
12 Reg. EXs
4 Megas
2 Primal EXs
= 18 Different EX Cards
Or + 4 SR Megas, and 8 FAs (5 FA Pokémon and 3 FA Supporters) = 30 Different UR cards from 1 set!

This also means that 6 EXs will have some type of mega/primal evolution and 6 EXs will be stand-alone EXs...this next set is going to be interesting!

Wow, 12 EX's including Primal Kyogre and Primal Groudon. And four megas...I know three are the starters, wonder what the fourth will be? I kind of hope it's Gardevoir.

Its 12 including the 2 Primals, so it would appear to be more like 16 EX's total,

EDIT: re-read, appears I misinterpreted the information.

It says over 150 cards.. If its going to be more then 153 it will be the third largest set ever.

Over 150 cards!? 30 Ultra Rares (If Elbow is correct)!? Screw Phantom Forces, I'm saving for extra Primal Clash booster boxes!

I was kinda hoping for a Rayquaza Elite Trainer box, but Groudon/Kyogre are cool too. Hopefully they aren't the same exact colors as Xerneas/Yveltal.

I think people are misinterpretting the numbers. Now I might be wrong too, but I'm pretty sure it's as follows:

There are 4 total Mega evolution Pokemon. This itself includes Primal Kyogre, Primal Groudon (these are labelled as Mega Pokemon in the TCG, which we know from the Hoenn Collection Box), and two other mega evolution cards (presumably 2 of the 3 starter Pokemon, the third being part of its own set like Charizard). This means that of the 12 total Pokemon-EX, 4 are Megas, and 4 are the base-EX's of those Megas. That leaves 4 regular Pokemon EX in the set which have no mega evolutions. This also means there will be at most 8 Pokemon-EX full arts, with 2 secret rare Megas (unless they change the secret rare scheme like I hope they do). That makes 24 ultra Rares in pokemon, and possibly 2-4 additional ultra rares in full-art Trainers.

I hope that was clear enough to explain my understanding.

I feel like maybe we'll get a rayquaza ex in this set, or they will wait till next set and have it be the theme of that set along with blaziken or whatever starter they decide to not use.

So what do you think the featured cards in the theme decks are going to be? The 3 starters or the 2 legendaries?

Heartgold Soulsilver had the 3 starters, but there was not really a Ho-oh and Lugia card that isn't some sort of special card.

Boundaries crossed had the legendaries, well the video game cover Pokemon, and didn't want to reuse the Unova starters as cover Pokemon.

In both Generation 4 and Generation 5, the first set had the starters while the fourth set had the legendaries as the theme deck cover cards.

In Generation 6, due to the nature of the simultaneous video game release and the not so simultaneous TCG releases, we got Kalos starter set instead of Legendary Treasures theme decks. The Kalos starter sets are kind of like theme decks, but they aren't, and at the same time, they represent the starters of Kalos. Not to be redundant, the first XY set didn't have the starters as theme deck cover cards, but instead did the 2 legendaries.

I guess the only way to tell what the theme deck cover cards will be for this set is to see what is in the set.

It would be way from left field if the Theme Deck cover cards were neither the 3 starters or the 2 legendaries.

Actually that isn't true. HGSS had a regular fire Ho-oh and a regular though water Lugia that were our first two promos for that set. Given the fact they have no issues with reprinting things they could have slipped those into our HGSS set but simply chose not to.

I think it could be either the two legendaries or three starters. As you said it will be hard to know for sure until we know what's in the set, not to mention any associated promos.
