You should have enough parts to build it by chapter 9 if you use your scavenger bots effectively.

I'm currently running with a Plasma Cutter/Ripper mix that's been severely damaged buffed, along with a type of Pulse Rifle/Carbine mix with a rocket launcher underbelly. They're working pretty well.
Don't worry, it's during an escape-type scene, so you mostly just have to run and stasis them when they pop out, the exploding ship takes care of the rest.
Yeah, but just for a little while. I think they came back during that annoying escape with all of the fire.
I'm on chapter 10 now, lol.
I don't think so yet. I'm exploring the mid-section of the ship at the moment.
Sort of. I panicked a little when I saw there was no exit in the final room, but when I remembered that I was just waiting for the train, I knew I just had to sit in a corner and hold out for a bit. In the words of Isaac Clarke:

Thanks. I actually managed to beat Dead Space 2 all in one go in a New Game+ playthrough on the hardened difficulty. It was quite a challenge. But since I hear that this one has side missions and whatnot, one-shotting it isn't very likely.
