Shame on TPCI for botching this collaboration hardcore. They are the ones who made it almost impossible for the average person to get their hands on both the promo and the merchandise. They should have printed this card into oblivion but they didn’t and won’t and stuff like this happens as a result.
Here is a solution me and my friend came up with a solution for our personal matches that largely fixes cards like these:
We errated all cards that mention multiple rule boxes to include all rule boxes. For example with Scoop Up Net since it mentions GX’s and V’s specifically, it cannot scoop...
When did I say LGS’s are a good thing for the hobby? I’m just saying that this type of behavior was to be expected and tried to explain their reason for doing it (even though it’s scummy and wrong).
Leagues hosted by big box retailers would be an interesting experiment… However, I don’t see...
I’ve been of the mindset this was going to happen and have largely been proven right so far. Of course it’s wrong, but many of these stores aren’t going to pass up a free $10,000. There is also no incentive to “play by the rules” here. As stated in the article there is no way for distributors to...
Store owners don’t set the market price. It isn’t their fault that one promo sells for upwards of $100 on the secondary market. Most store owners aren’t going to willingly give up $7-12k in potential profit to run the promotion as advertised. Is it scummy and wrong? Of course. But when you are...
Exactly! When these sell for upwards of $100-150 a card, why would they just give them away to customers? That is $10,000-15,000 in essentially free money that these stores are getting shipped to them. This is compared to the $3,000 they would roughly make from customers paying $30 to get a copy...
Almost all of them. When one copy of the card is worth well over $100, why would the employees and or managers not just take them for themselves? Each store will receive upwards of $10,000 worth of Van Gogh Pikachu promos per shipment. Even if this does not happen, expect scalpers to scoop these...
