Japanese boxes have a fixed amount of ARs (3) + one card of higher rarity because of Japan's laws on gambling. English does not have fixed pull rates (see Crown Zenith and SV base)

Yes I know the answer is always "buy singles." With so many chase cards and such bad pull rates, how cheap do you think the singles are going to BE?
I still don’t get it tho. Getting a master set is a choice, like spending money on cards to begin with. This is how the set is constructed. Everyone has the choice to just skip it or get just the cards they like.
If there aren’t enough cards, people are complaining, if there aren’t any IRs, people are complaining and now we get many cards and people still complain. I don’t think there is a way to please everyone right now.
Maybe this set really requires to trade - like intended. I wish you as many hits as possible tho - as I will only buy these in Japanese, which should end up cheaper than get new products of this set in the west.

Your comment makes no sense. 151 already had AR/SARs for those pokemon. If 151 would have been done this way (which it should have been) we would have had ARs for mons like Vulpix, Oddish, Butterfree, etc. which would have been awesome.
Every gen deserves this treatment.
I believe the Karrablast IR is Komiya, but I can't read the illus credit so I'm not sure

there are so many pokemon in Gen 1 that have so many different ARs, I’d rather have nothing special dedicated to them for a while. Those pokemon you mentioned need one, yes, but they can have them in a regular Set.
I can see that, but the background does not seem to be distorted enough and the name seems too long.
Yeah I agree, nothing more dedicated to gen 1 for awhile. I just hope this set is a beginning of a trend, would be amazing if we could get a set of an entire gen with ARs each summer or something.That’s what I meant
And to those that complain they're less "special" or there's too many if each pokemon gets an AR, just don't buy them. These are manufactured products with artificial scarcity. There is nothing "special" about them to begin with. The only thing that's special are the artworks. I want as many of these as possible, every common could be full art and I would be thrilled, I don't care about any of the gambling thrill aspects of this hobby which is why I've been only buying Japanese singles for the last year or so. I'll probably be buying about half the ARs in this set.
My only complaint is that they didn't do single artist for each evo line. Looks so cool to display them together that way. But on the upside, it does give more artists opportunities.

Although i don't think some of the variant forms will get their own cards... i've given up on the gender variants getting their own and i doubt zen form Darmanitan will get one. Still (foolishly) holding out on therians, alt meloetta, and alt keldeo tho!

Honestly beautiful stuff. Asaka Ito and Yuka Morii are in the mix, too, which is exciting. Water-themed cards look gorgeous.
Nice visual! Curious as to why you have some old cards on there? Like genesect, durant, and Emolga. Is this for a personal collection?
Like 12 hours since it started and we are not done. This set will be HELL
kinda! i've been tracking which pokemon have gotten irs since about a year ago, so if i already had one in the table i probably didn't replace it. i started this board before the news that every pokemon in Unova was getting an ir in this set so i was only expecting some of the spots to be filled in. i want to remake it soon with hd versions of all the cards from this set and eventually put them as an extra page with all the other generation trackers and the pocket cards too!
I know everyone got tired of all the complaining about the ARs not being revealed ahead of time, but the one unfortunate result of that is our introduction to most of these cards will be a grainy, poorly lit still from a video with a finger in front of half the art. I do believe some should remain secret until release, but it kind of sucks seeing so many of them for the first time this way...
