Discussion Any particular way to pull off the Morgan combo?

For those of you who don’t know Morgan:
Morgan - Supporter
You may only play this card if you discard Dana, Evelyn, and Nita from your hand.
Reveal the top 12 cards of your deck and attach all energy you find there to your Pokémon in any way you like.
Well, here’s a dilemma. It’s a superb card, but how do we pull it off? Is it simply a combination between luck and Lele? Is there something else I’m missing? Should I tech in Lance <> and TUP Dragonite? What’s the secret?
Thanks in advance!

In Expanded, it's really easy with Trainers' Mail and Random Receiver, as well as Compressor/Vs Seekers. In Standard, either a load of Leles, or maybe Steven's Resolve?

The best way to pull it off is probably through an attack that searches, or maybe Lt. Surge, Steven's Resolve with Metagross to find 3 of the 4, assuming you already have 1, and then Morgan, although we'll have to wait for next set for Surge and you'll need to sacrifice a Pokemon for Surge to work.

I'd like to add that "pulling it off" should probably include something to make sure the Energy acceleration is worth it.

Yeah, Top 12 cards from your deck, but do you really want to even hit only two or three basic Energy when pulling this off? Guessing people want to be hitting at least six basic Energy or some really great Special Energy cards (and still at least three of those).

There was a decklist posted on the ptcgojpn blog on tumblr that uses Steven to search for the supporters in order to power up Sylveon&Garde TTGX. The deck also uses that new item that is very similar to Random Receiver and the Xerneas that lets you search for a supporter.

If the key is avoiding Judge/Let Loose, then your options are limited in the current Standard. FairyTales -> 2 Mysterious Treasures -> 2 Tapu Leles, plus two other supporters already in hand, maybe, but that seems just insane to attempt, and requires a lot of cards in hand already. Jirachi could help as well, of course.

If you're okay with one turn's risk, then Metagross GX -> Algorithm seems the simplest answer (as it gets all 4). Of course Steven's Resolve will also work if you have one in your hand already.

I could see this being useful in Fairy decks with Sylveon, Magical Ribboning turn after turn, your opponent never knowing what turn they have to play their limited Judge/Marshadow(s) (as they don't know what you've drawn). Heck, your opponent won't know on game one whether you're playing Control or a big Beatdown deck, after all. A couple of Gardevoire GXs with 4-5 fairy energy on each can be pretty scary after all (say you get to attach 4 on that turn, if you've thinned out the supporters/pokémon some, plus Gardevoire's ability and attach-for-turn).

If Morgan is even mildly playable, then it might be if nothing else a 'pressure' card - something to put pressure on your opponent and force them to close off that win condition for you.

My thought was to play it in some sort of Zoroark build with the other hat ladies. Trade away the first 3 then play Morgan during your trun

That’s not how it works - you have to have all four cards in your hand. Morgan instructs you to discard them, not to find them in your discard pile.

A successful Morgan play will be:
- Lt. Surge's Strategy may work with Misty's Favor, Steven's Resolve or Green's Exploration; Pokégear 3.0 may also help.
- Own a Hoopa-GX (Team Up 96/181), Eevee (Cosmic Eclipse 166/236) and Jirachi (Team Up 99/181).
- If you want to do it again, use Oranguru (Ultra Prism 114/138) or Pal Pad and search for the supporters again.

It's a risk on giving your opponent some free turns, but when it is done, it's worth it.
Advice, lessen your Pokémon and focus on the Morgan play, have at least more than 20 Energy in your deck.
Note: Tapu Lele-GX is now unavailable in the 2020 Standard Format.

You do realize this thread is from 2019 and is almost a whole year old right?
