“Shrouded Fable” Special Pokemon TCG Set Revealed for August!

Shrouded Fable has been revealed as our special English set releasing on August 2nd! As predicted before, the set will feature the cards from Japan’s Night Wanderer set, including Pecharunt ex, Okidogi ex, Munkidori ex, and Fezandipiti ex.

The set will feature reverse holo cards with a new, unique foil pattern surrounding the card artwork.

Shrouded Fable will include:

  • Over 95 cards
  • Three ACE SPEC rare Trainer cards
  • Five Pokémon ex and one Tera Pokémon ex (a Lightning-type Revaroom ex)
  • 15 illustration rare Pokémon
  • 10 ultra rare Pokémon ex, Tera Pokémon ex and Supporter cards
  • Five special illustration rare Pokémon and Supporter cards
  • Five hyper rare gold etched cards

The set description is as follows:

Rumors swirl and memories deceive as the march of time beats on in the land of Kitakami! Prepare for nightfall and discover a malevolent presence as Pecharunt ex commands the Loyal Three—Okidogi ex, Munkidori ex, and Fezandipiti ex—to do its nefarious bidding. Meanwhile, Revavroom ex plugs into the grid to Terastallize into a Lightning type, and Kingdra ex makes a royal splash in the Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet—Shrouded Fable expansion!

This set will be legal in time for Worlds, which takes place from August 16th to 18th.

Like all special sets, booster packs for Shrouded Fable will not be sold individually. They will only be available in the following products, most of which release August 2nd:

Shrouded Fable Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box (now available for preorder at the Pokémon Center for $59.99): Includes 11 Scarlet & Violet—Shrouded Fable booster packs; two copies of an illustration rare-style promo card featuring Pecharunt, with one showcasing the Pokémon Center logo; and various gameplay accessories.

Shrouded Fable Elite Trainer Box (available Aug. 2, 2024 for $49.99): Includes nine Scarlet & Violet—Shrouded Fable booster packs, one illustration rare-style promo card featuring Pecharunt and various gameplay accessories.

(The promo featured here is an alternate art reprint of the Greninja ex Scarlet & Violet promo and its pre-evolution cards are direct reprints from Obsidian Flames.)

Shrouded Fable Kingdra ex Special Illustration Collection (available Aug. 2, 2024 for $29.99): Includes five Scarlet & Violet—Shrouded Fable booster packs, one special illustration rare-style promo card featuring Kingdra ex in a unique Ukiyo-e (woodblock) art style, and two foil promo cards featuring Horsea and Seadra.

Ultra PRO will also be releasing their typical 4 and 9-pocket portfolios featuring artwork from the set:

The set description mentions it will feature five gold cards. Since Night Wanderer should feature three gold cards, our Shrouded Fable may reach five by including the gold Darkness and Metal Energy that were cut from our Paradox Rift set:

Illustration Rares of the Loyal Three were also cut from our Twilight Masquerade set. They will undoubtedly be included in Shrouded Fable‘s set list.

You can see translations for the revealed cards from Night Wanderer in this news story.

We will discuss all of this news on this weekend’s episode of the PokeBeach podcast!

I like how their going back and giving alt arts to cards, the greninja is stunning. I just wish they gave them to pokemon without art rares already, greninja and kingambit have a lot. Pecharunt promo looks interesting though, might see some use with a poison stall deck or something?

I could see it being the "end of the year" set, a la VSTAR Universe and Shiny Treasure ex, where the special part of the set features these Ukiyo-E style cards
nothing about them is really Ukio-E to me. They are traditional art yes, but they don't even look very traditionally Japanese nor does the flow of the artworks. Wonder where that description comes from.

That said all cards can be pulled from either of the upcoming Japanese sets (like stellar miracle or Paradiso dragonia)

Whyyyyyy it's the wrong Greninja! I guess that means I can actually afford this one then (maybe)
I was at first thinking like: cool, they are reprinting the Greninja from Twilight Masquerade but then oh, is not that one. Still the art is pretty nice.

Wow. This was a weird situation that they solved really well; I can’t even think of a better solution than this. This is the smallest set we’ve had in a while, in a good way. I was expecting this to be a bulk set full of those terrible Battle Academy cards we never got alongside a bunch of other random garbage that was never released in international markets, but it’s basically just the Japanese set by itself with some other actually good stuff thrown in. I can safely say that this exceeded all of my expectations

I love the promo arts and Kingdra hasn't even been revealed! I was skeptical on this set initially but I think it's going to have potential. They need to start doing more of these ex illustration rares for collection boxes (even if they aren't playable)

at the end of the day, the set will be more expensive as it is marketed as a "special set" while being just "Night Wanderer ++". There are so many products and you can't just buy a display again. If it would have been part of TWM it would actually have also been okay, just a big set like Paldea Evolved but with better access.

Pecharunt could be cool with cheaper hit & run attackers by including brute bonnet/capsule in the list

There are at least 31 other cards, most of which will come from Battle Academy just 0 of the ex cards which should be pushed into SV7.

This is not a special set. Just a normal set in every regard with a bit fewer cards. No different pack size, no different rarity, no subset...
