‘Pokemon Journeys’ Coming to Netflix, Episodes to Release Quarterly!
The next season of the Pokemon anime will be named Pokemon Journeys and will release exclusively on Netflix! The series began airing in Japan last November.
Since Netflix is a streaming platform, new episodes will release every quarter for the duration of the season rather than once a week like on traditional TV. The first 12 episodes will debut on June 12th.
TPCi and Netflix released a trailer for the new series. Professor Sakurai will be named “Professor Cerise” in the English dub and Go is now spelled “Goh.” The series will feature a new theme song written and performed by the Canadian band Walk off the Earth.
The series follows Ash and his new friend Goh as they travel the Pokemon world. They visit all the Pokemon regions of the past and present rather than just sticking to Galar. Their home base is at Cerise Laboratory in Vermilion City.
Goh’s goal is to capture every Pokemon, but he especially has his sights on Mew. The series is a departure from previous ones in that Goh captures new Pokemon every week — sometimes multiple in the same episode (the character is a walking advertisement for Pokemon GO).
The series features a new composer for the first time since the anime debuted, as the legendary Shinji Miyazaki retired.
