Are you a Japanese artist who wants to illustrate an official Pokemon card? Creatures, the producers of the Pokemon TCG, will be holding a second artist competition for Japanese residents!

The theme this time is “Cool Moments in Pokemon.” Artists of any experience level can submit artwork of Charizard, Pikachu, Tyranitar, Milotic, Lucario, Genesect, Wishiwashi, or Zacian. The scenes must take place in forests or towns. Submitted artwork must be 1080 x 680 pixels. Submissions will be accepted from now until March 31st.

1st place will win 300,000 yen and their artwork will be produced on a promo card. Creatures also states that some artists may be recruited to become official Pokemon TCG artists. The winner will be announced in June 2020. (2nd and 3rd places will win 100,000 yen each, and five artists will win a jury prize of 50,000 yen each.)

In 2019, the winner’s Gardevoir illustration was featured on a promo card that was given out at Pokemon Center stores. The illustration was selected out of more than 5,300 submissions.

Judges for the competition include Tsunekazu Ishihara (The Pokemon Company President), Hirokazu Tanaka (President, Creatures Inc.), Yuji Kitano (Creatures Inc. Director Development Producer), Reiko Ujiie (Director, Creatures Inc. Pokemon CG Studio Art Director), Kenichi Koga (Creatures Inc. Art Director), and other illustrators.

This is the artwork I’m submitting. Help me make this happen, fam!
