‘Detective Pikachu’ TCG Products Officially Revealed!

Pokemon has officially revealed four of the six Detective Pikachu TCG products!

As posted before, the set’s booster packs are only available through special Detective Pikachu products. Each booster pack contains just four cards.

Our Detective Pikachu set will feature 26 cards. This matches the Japanese set, which contains 24 cards before secret rares.

Pokemon did not reveal two products in their announcement: the third GX character case file, which we expect to feature Mewtwo-GX, or the “Detective Pikachu Special Case File,” which features a mini-binder. Mew and Mewtwo were mentioned in a summary for the Japanese comic book adaptation of the movie and Mewtwo has a role in the original video game. So they may be in the film and Pokemon could be hiding that for now.

The promos in this set all feature the actual CG models from the movie! TPCi says, “Collectors and competitive players alike will enjoy looking through them and building their decks with Pokemon seen in the movie.”

The hell? All of these 3 promos are kind of amazing!
The Charizard one looks cool, but that first attack is insane.
Greninja tho... That card is nuts!

...I didn’t expect any of these to be good. Well, obviously Detective Pikachu isn’t, but that Charuzard looks pretty cool, maybe not playable, but certainly moreso compared to our current Charizard-GX. Greninja-GX, however, holy woah! That’s a good Ability! I think that will get played a lot, for sure. I will play it.

I would be scared if an opponent got that Charizard loaded with 5 energy. It's a OHKO monster.

How? It accelerates itself, Kiawe, Naganel+whooper, Naganel + multi-switch, however, it doesn't matter. You can even use DCE and non-fire basic. Lookout!

Geez... That Charizard looks insane. It’s still so weird seeing Pokemon this ‘realistic’ in official products. But I still say they’ve handled the designs very well! I love how you can see a bit of orange skin in the cracks between scales on its wing. Small details like that help make a cartoon dragon seem believable enough as being ‘real’ in the world of this movie.

I had to reread Greninja’s Ability a few times. That’s pretty darn good! And Charizard certainly has potential. The prices are a bit steep, but reasonable enough for special products.

That Greninja is legitimately quite good. I completely did not expect that.

Add a Buff padding to Charizard, and he's 300HP, while dealing 200+/turn. What a monster.

Getting the Zard, its not appealing artwise, but it would be fun to use in a deck.

Love the look of movie Greninja and the card itself isn't bad either. However, it is not comparable to Archie as that supporter was used on Pokemon that either had an ability that activated right away or could attack for a single attachment. Still, it is worth to experiment with at least.

I still can't get over how weird it is to see Pokemon with actually looking fur. I guess they have to evolve in design over time but still. Still hope the Mewtwo Gx is a meta changer.

Detective: Good job. Interesting, but not playable.
    ANOTHER ‘ZARD and Greninja:
    Gimme a B!
    Gimme a U!
    Gimme an S!
    Gimme a T!
    Gimme an E!
    Gimme a D!
    What does that spell?
    B U S T E D!

Seriously, ZARD is pretty good, and the Greninja is breakneck speed. I like them, but MORE ‘ZARD? REALLY?

When I read Greninja-GX's ability, the first thing that came to mind was Elemental HERO Bubbleman from Yu-Gi-Oh!, mainly cause their effects are nearly identical (Greninja - last card in hand, play to bench and draw 3. Bubbleman - only card in hand, Special Summon + no cards on your field and in hand, draw 2)

I can forsee the Greninja getting some use.
