New Online Flash-Based TCG Simulator for Learning the TCG

Pokemon.com has announced that they will be releasing a flash-based TCG simulator in or around April which will allow players to use several preconstructed decks to battle artificial computer opponents. This will be similar to the “Pokemon TCG – Play It!” CD that was included in Base Set 2‘s 2-Player CD Rom Starter Kit where you could pick from a few preconstructed decks and battle a CG character named Julie. Additionally, if you buy a Black & White theme deck this April, you can enter a code included in the packaging and use the actual deck within the program.

For now, the program only seems to be an elaborate method for learning the TCG like the original Base Set 2 CD game. Unlike Redshark and other simulators, it will not include the vast majority of cards available for tournament play nor will it allow players to battle each other over the Internet. Still, it will be a very fun and interactive way to teach new players the TCG like the original Gameboy Color game!
