Movie 13 Places Second at Japanese Box Office

The Ruler of Illusions: Zoroark debuted in second place this past weekend with 600,602 viewers and 629,470,000 yen in revenue ($7.1 million dollars). Toy Story 3, which unsurprisingly came in first place, debuted on 525 screens (compared to Zoroark’s 369) and generated 977,000,000 yen in revenue ($11.1 million dollars), making it the third best opening for an animated film in Japan behind Studio Ghibli and Hayao Miyazaki’s Spirited Away and Howl’s Moving Castle (and I just went to the Ghibli Museum today! :p).

Opinion: I still stick to my opinion that this was the worst Pokemon movie ever (and anyone who disagrees, I dare you to bring other people to watch it and see what they say!). However, I’m going to have to give it a second chance so I can write the movie summary. I was so incredibly frustrated with the slow and uneventful plot that I couldn’t even remember what happened (the meat of the movie could have been cut down to 10 minutes; maybe I can’t remember anything because nothing happened!). But I digress. Don’t laugh, but part of the reason I want to be a filmmaker is so I can make a Pokemon movie one day… one to blow them all out of the water! :D
