Pokemon #1 Selling TCG in America

The Pokemon TCG was the #1 selling TCG in America during the fourth quarter of last year, according to ICv2, a company that monitors and analyzes card game sales. The TCG came in first place for overall sales, in first place for mass-market channel sales, and was placed in sixth for hobby channel sales. At the beginning of 2009, it was in second place for overall sales behind Bakugan, but rose to first place in the second quarter and has maintained that position ever since, surpassing card games like Yu-Gi-Oh and Magic the Gathering. What does this mean? It means that the TCG’s sales are extremely healthy and booming! So much for “Pokemon is dead.”
