Stage 2 decks officially dead?

luxchomp next season??.. Umm...

anyways.. Zekrom is why japan's meta is water free. With catcher running in every deck, you can't protect yourself on the bench.

Zekrom is pretty sick probably the best card in the set currently, but he wouldn't be the reason I wouldn't use water.

You misunderstood me earlier, I was meaning LuxChomp for this season and Zekrom for the next one even though Zekrom will be played in our current season. Sorry If I confused you.

So much for countering against Reshiram/Emboar with {W} then, so I guess this means that Vileplume UD will see more play maybe with Krookodile or Donphan Prime? What's the Japanese Metagame like right now in terms of a Zekrom counter?

zekrom is bdif over there. Running a water deck is ok for now. Until they release catcher, then it's screwed. Without spiritomb, vileplume will be too slow to do anything if you go second. But its psychic weakness will largely be a non factor. There was a post I saw yesterday about the japan meta, and donphan is one of the top decks. Not donchamp, just straight donphan since water is a non issue there sice zekrom is everywhere.

It's probably something along the lines of 4-4 Donphan plus some techs to help it out (like Dodrio or something), and a ton of draw/search trainers. And stuff like PlusPower/Defender to help Donphan live longer.

I maybe a zekrom with a DCE for the water matchup. Ise pokegear (3.0?) to search out a collector, and fill up on phanpy off of a collector.

How does Donphan Prime get around Umbreon UD? Run a tech that can counter it perhaps?

If you go the Zekrom + DCE route, you could easily go 4-3/1 (regular Donphan) for a OHKO with Rock Hurl.

I'll see if I can find it. but since their championships were understandably "delayed" for an undisclosed amount, it'll be slightly old info. since I'm sure there are new counter decks out there.

I don't get how Zekrom is good, even with Catcher. It's too slow needing LLC. Healing doesn't help it, you'd need 4 Serperiors to counter it and it's still Zoroark/Reshiram bait. Shaymin/Pachi aren't all that great, they aren't reusable and as soon as the opponent gets a DLC and 1 Zoroark, it's over, it takes too long to set up another Zekrom.

Er, even swarming the damn Pig, both versions, can beat down Zekrom pretty fast. I do not understand how it's the deck to beat. Is Japan still running 40 card decks with really thin Pokemon lines? 'cause, with 60 card decks, I don't see Zekromination.

But Zekrom runs Donphan Prime for Earthquake to counter Zoroark, so unless you Megaton Tail
with Tyranitar Prime on their Donphan Prime fast enough (Rare Candied Larvitar with DCE and 2 Dark) for 120 damage despite the 3 card self mill you're kinda screwed. I kinda thought about running a 1-1 Donphan Prime tech in TyraniBuzz to see how it would do against Zekrom.

As for Shaymin and Pachirisu, they can just Seeker and/or Super Scoop Up those Basics back to their hand so that next turn when they play an Interviewer's Questions they can attach more {L} to the new Zekrom after using Shaymin and Pachirisu's Poke-Powers. I don't see how that process takes too long to setup another Zekrom after one is KO'ed. It's only a 2 turn setup cause you're playing 2 Supporters.

Tyranitar Prime can take at least 1 or 2 hits from Donphan Prime before getting KO'ed thanks to it's 160 HP and If Serperior is benched for Royal Heal that helps shave off damage to keep it alive as well. I actually like it better than Suicune/Entei LEGEND having to counter Donphan Prime, sure it will survive by 40 HP from having the same Max HP as Tyranitar Prime but it does what it does best.
