Hmm... Zekrom as an electric type isnt so odd.... its actually kind of fitting??? That would make Reshiram a possibility to be an ice type...

It looks MORE like a fire type than it does an ice type. And even then, it looks MORE like a light type! :D

YES EXACTLY!!!!! my friends shun me when I say it may be a light type... :[

I think Zekrom's a rock or ground type (because tail looks like a drill but groudon is still master of earth so....)and Reshiram a flying type. But I like the idea of dark/light type. I think Zekrom is guardian of death then and Reshiram of life.

I'm sure they represent life/death!

I wonder when sun/moon legendairs comes!?

WPM, I really really doubt a Light-Type coming. We have Fighting type which is treated as the "Light" type. Dark-type deals with pulling dirty tricks while fighting (Thief, Covet, Snatch, etcetc). Ya know, fighting dirty. Fighting-type is about fighting with honor, and and just the general "good guys" way of fighting hence its the "Light" type even if not classified as such and Dark is named "Evil" in Japan iirc. Hence "Evil fox" for Zorua which will undoubtedly be "dark fox" in English.

Just a heads-up not to get to antsy for Light-type.

on Serebii it was stated that:

The host of Pokémon Sunday, Nakagawa Shoko, blogged today about the character she is voicing in the thirteenth movie. With this, she mentioned about her love for Electric types and stated that due to this, she wants to get Zekrom. This statement was quickly removed from her blog but people managed to catch it in time. If this holds true then it will mean that Zekrom is of a Dragon and Electric type, a new and unique type combination. Remember though, this is NOT confirmed, albeit coming from a very likely source plus she could have removed it due to her being mistaken about Zekrom's type. We'll bring more as and when it comes Click the picture to go to our New Pokémon Page"

I can see this being true because Zekrom's tail looks like an electric generator (Dragon/Electric type) and Reshiram's tail looks like a torch (Dragon/Fire type).

Having one maniacal team trying to enshroud the world in Darkness sounds like the typical Villian...

But having it always bright? That doesn't make sense as the evil goal of an organization you want to stop.

"MWAHAH! Now that we have Reshiram, we can make the world brighter! It will be harder for you to sleep!"...

Yeah, no, I don't see that happening.

But if it does then I'll be darned XD

If a new type is indeed added, it would not be logical for there to only be one.

The pokémon series has a reoccurring theme of balance and equality. How many new evolutions does eevee get per game? Two. There are always two main legendaries, then a third one that is outside of the direct polarity of the other two, yet still tied to both.

Now, if Reshiram brings a new type, light, then Zekrom will also bring a new type. Nintendo always introduces new game features in each game. If one legendary has a new type, then so will the other.

I do not think this will be a good/evil or heaven/underworld themed game. A creator pokémon does exist, but Arceus is not portrayed as benevolent or malevolent, and certainly not as any true god. He is not worshiped, nor is there any real evidence to suggest that he is worshiped in the pokémon series.

Darkness/light is somewhat more probable, but still I do not see it as any real theme for Nintendo to choose for pokémon. Same with death/life, which tends to lead to one (life) being favored over the other.

Night/day, however, I think is very possible. Night and day are natural, yet neutral, concepts. Darkness and light have good and evil connotations (as this thread is evidence of), but night and day have considerably less. Night/day also allows Nintendo to have whatever villainous team "upset the balance of nature" and cause an endless day or night to descend upon the world if one of the legendaries is captured or separated from the other.

Yin/yang hasn't been done before in pokémon. The legendaries are either fighting, or are separate, that's why I think that it would be something that Nintendo would try. The black/white root words in the names of the legendaries as well as the game titles also brings yin/yang to mind.

I think that there are plenty of clues leading to a sky theme to suggest day/night. And, as someone mentioned, the names "gray", "scarlet", and "crimson" have been copyrighted. That definitely brings twilight, dawn and dusk to mind.

this is just my thoughts but notice that Zekrom has a drill on its tail well that could mean its is dragon/electric and Reshiram has a torch on its tail well that must mean that its dragon/fire

Super Long Speculation!

According to Serebii the host of Pokemon Sunday said she loves electric types and with that would love to voice Zekrom. This post was then removed from her blog minutes afterward.

I think she knows it's part electric, but she hurried up and removed it, because she remembered that no one is supposed to know.

After reading that, I wondered if this is the location where Zekrom may be found.

Zekromlocationperhaps.png

It's a possibility. It could just be a random cave, but I think there's a chance Zekrom's location is here. Zekrom has some blue in his design, and the electricity in this picture is blue. He also seems to have a robotic look. Robots are electronic. It makes sense for him to be part electric.

If Zekrom was Electric/Dragon then Reshiram would be Fire/Dragon wouldn't he? It makes sense. Here is why:

Reshiram has a possibility of being part fire seeing as there is a torch for its tail. Maybe it controls volcanoes or actual fire.

The reasons why the legendaries for Black and White could be fire and electric:

Fire--you light a candle to see in the dark. It's light in darkness.

Electricity--you turn on a lamp when it's dark. It's also light in darkness.

Therefore, Fire and Electricity tie into the light/dark aspect. Both create light when there is darkness. It doesn't have to be so literal and be part light and part dark types. The legendaries could be part fire and part electric and still convey the same message. The titles make sense, because Black represents dark and white represents light.

Also, with fire and electricity, not only can they bring light, they can cause darkness as well. If you use too much electricity, it causes power outages (like the one in Sunyshore). Without power, you're in darkness. Fire also creates smoke. You can't see when there is smoke and ash. Therefore, there is darkness.

Fire and electricity control light and dark. Therefore everything I've said makes sense for the legendaries to be part fire and electric.

It's possible that the evil organization(s) in this game are looking to harness the legendary powers for their own advantage. It could be a battle between light and darkness using fire and electricity.

That's probably why the protagonists are older. 10 year olds shouldn't be messing with fire or electricity. It also explains the boots and the shoes they are wearing. Hiun city is an industrial city that uses a lot of electricity and fire.

Dragon/Fire and Dragon/Electric legendaries seem very possible for Black and White. According to wikipedia, "lightning can also occur within the ash clouds from volcanic eruptions, or can be caused by violent forest fires which generate sufficient dust to create a static charge."

This is a combination of fire and electricity taking place at the same time. Light is the electricity. Darkness is from the smoke caused by the fire. Notice the colors? (White and Black.)

ZekromvsReshiram.png

If you place the Pokemon onto the background, it seems like a very plausible idea.

This is from the main page:
"Reshiram's name comes from "shiro," which means "white" in Japanese, whereas Zekrom's comes from "kuro," which means "black." But as it turns out, the names also originate from the Japanese words "shiramu" and "kuromu," which mean "to grow light" and "to grow dark." Specifically, these words are used to refer to the sky becoming light and dark. Like we pointed out a few weeks ago, "hiun" in Hiun City's name can mean "clouds being blown by the wind." In addition to this, the bridge connected to Hiun City is named "Sky Arrow Bridge." So, we obviously have a sky theme going on in these two games in addition to the possible lightening or darkening of it.

What do these tidbits and the names of the Legendary Pokemon tell us about Black and White's plot? This is just speculation, but perhaps the games will involve a story related to making the sky night or day, similar to the whole land and ocean dichotomy in Ruby and Sapphire.

On the main page it was also theorized that Zekrom's tail could be a night generator.

This makes the Electric/Dragon and Fire/Dragon theory even more realistic because there is a sky theme going on already, and Fire and Electricity can each cause light, darkness, and problems with the sky.

If you are thinking that their colors do not match their potential typing, Reshiram has red highlights and Zekrom has blue highlights. I also noticed Zekrom has red and yellow eyes (fire) while Reshiram has blue eyes (electricity), to balance out the colors for the whole yin-yang thing they've got going on.

(This info is a mix of posts from Sweet Smoochum, myself and musesum626 on Pokecommunity)

That makes a lot of sense i completely agree w/ u^
and the third legendary could be... idk something that balances it out? im not sure really

Ok so lets decide that Zekrom is Electric/Dragon then what is Reshiram? Just by looking at it's tail I think it might be a fire type. It could also be the ruler of all fire type Pokemon because it is white and white being one of the hottest colors of fire. However If Reshiram is fire And Zekrom is electric then what would the third counterpart be?

another flying dragon that blows away the storms? idk maybe a rock dragon that forms sandstorms?

I HAVE IT!!! Reshiram represents clear skies with white clouds and Zekrom represents stormy skies with black clouds. That would be the reason why Zekrom is an electric type, and different things are translating into things relating to clouds.

This would also explain the "big version difference." In pokemon black, the skies would be stormy and you would have to catch Reshiram to light up the sky(with it's "torch" tail). This would also help justify that Reshiram is a fire type.

Somebody PLEASE put this spectulation on the front page.

btw wikipedia also said that lightning forms by:
electricity-zekrom
volcanic eruption(fire)-reshiram
ice or air(flying)-unknown
but most scientists say ice as the key cause, so the third counter part cud be ice/dragon or even ice/flying

I said everything you and the other people above you have said already...

the third counterpart could also be ground as it balances out both fire and electric and it is super effective to both and also beause lightning goes to the ground and doesnt effect it and lightning is from the storm
what do u guys think?

OMG!!!!!!! GHJamesGH is a genius :D ... I totally agree with you! Below are my opinions ( if they seem like GHJamesGH's ideas, i'm sorry i also had that idea :p )

Pokedex Entries:

*Reshiram* Dragon/Fire - Reshiram flies the skies looking for a storm to clear. The legend says that if you befriend Reshiram, it'll protect you from any bad weather. It also states that if Zekrom was ever to cause a severe thunderstorm, Reshiram can help clear it up.

*Zekrom* Dragon/Electric - According to the legends Zekrom can be found in a cave that gives off electrical currents that cause thunderstorms and keep your house generators up and running. If Zekrom is disturbed he is said to cause an enormous continuous thunderstorm, that Reshiram can only resolve.

In *Pokemon Black Version* Zekrom causes a severe ongoing thunderstorm that has never cleared up. Your job is to catch Reshiram and have it clear the sky for sunny weather.

In *Pokemon White Version* the skies are clear and the folks are happy because Reshiram has done a good job guarding them, but when and angry Zekrom gets into the Isshu Region and your job is to catch it before it turns the region into a miserable ongoing storm.

It would make more sense for the third legendary to be Dark/Dragon because Darkness would over rule any light created by fire or electricity.

Amazing guesses on the whole cloudy sky/sunny sky theory, it actually may be what we are looking for!!! I especially love the idea on how Reshiram and Zekrom are constantly fighting off each other to keep the skies sunny/stormy. But what if, in Black, Reshiram gets captured by the bad team, causing a whole never ending storm, that tears away places. And maybe in White, Zekrom gets captured, causing massive droughts, heat waves, etc. idk though... not my best idea...
