I'm still relativley new to competitive play so bear with me please. This situation came up in a recent test match. I had Zoroark active while my opponent had Typhlosion Prime active. On my turn I used Foul Play and used Typlosions attack Flare Destroy which states:

"Discard an Energy card attached to Typhlosion and discard an Energy card attached to the Defending Pokémon."

So obviously Typhlosion Prime being the defending pokemon has to discard an energy. What I am wondering is does my Zoroark? Thanks for any help.

If an attack is self-referencing, and that attack is copied/used by another Pokemon, replace the original Pokemon's name with 'this Pokemon'. So it becomes:

"Discard an Energy card attached to this Pokemon and discard an Energy card attached to the Defending Pokemon."

You do 70 damage, discard 1 Energy card from Zoroark, and then discard 1 Energy card from Typhlosion.
